The paved road suddenly degrades into gravel and mud here if you are travel north for about 29 k towards Tinogasta. There are several shallow river crossings, this time of year Feb 10 were OK to cross.

Even the paved section of the highway, along this route, have many spots where the river flows across the road and there is lots of mud.
