Description

About 0.5mi up an unmarked BLM road is a small stand of trees with a seasonal pond in the middle. Number of ATV tracks around. We only stayed for an overnight, but it was quiet and secluded on the back side.

Drove through an open gate at the end of ther road to get to the back side of the trees.

If coming from PHX, don’t follow Google’s long way in. Take exit 81 the Salome Rd exit. If all you want is a short sleep, there are several really big pull offs along the first 1/2 mile. Salome Rd is paved and easy driving.

Otherwise, the other site was easy to find in the dark, as long as the two trees continue to flank the dirt road pull off.

Report Check-In

An hour out from Phoenix, we stayed one night to rest from the drive. Ground was pretty level for our van and it wasn’t hard to find when we came in at night w Google Maps. Follow what Google Maps says - you go down Salome Rd until it navigates you to turn and you drive through two small bushes:trees, it’s got tire marks so not too hard to find and follow. I have AT&T, got around 3 bars of service and the views were nice in the morning!

Report Check-In

Attempted to go to this spot but had to turn around, the dips in the dirt road were small but too deep for our 26ft class C.

We came to check out this and the other nearby spot (BLM Big Horn Peak View) marked on iOverlander. BOTH spots had hundreds of live bee boxes at the point of the coordinates given.

Lots of open and flat space between the brush (no shade).
We ended up camping a couple of nights closer to the road away from the bees.

Very quiet aside from the Occasional street noise and no one else around. Beautiful views.
The dirt/sand is pretty soft here.. so I imagine tricky to navigate after rains unless you have 4WD. Otherwise a very easy road.

Also FYI There are some cattle wandering here.

4 bars T-Mobile.

Report Check-In

As described.

The access dirt path is easy to overlook.... But it is the only path going into the bush, so drive slowly and watch for it.

I did stay one night. Ideal spot for someone in transit looking for quiet and secluded place to sleep, not too far from the road. Free.

* Bush boondocking site - no services
* AT&T / 2 bars

Report Check-In

No amenities and lots of open space. I paved road to the spots and not too rough. Stayed a night
