Description

Hunt camp in Osceola National Forest (available to everyone when it’s not general gun season which ends early January). Big clearing a very short drive down a dirt road, but a few muddy spots to navigate around. No cell service, pack it in pack it out type of place. Few other campers there, Lots of space, a few fire rings built by past campers.

Latest Check-Ins

Was here over Thanksgiving weekend. Very crowded, many people come every Thanksgiving. The next week they were all gone and only about 3 campers. Lots of space in an open field or under the trees.
Forest ranger came by and said they will do a planned burn and the campground will be closed for awhile beginning the week of December 11 2023.

Report Check-In

Pretty nice camp spot. A big open field with plenty of space. some shady spots under trees too. Easy access from the road. Be aware that locals come out here to drive ATVs, party and chuck beer cans into the woods on weekends. Lots of litter on the NFS roads, but on the whole, a pretty good spot if it's quiet.

Had the whole place to myself. Pretty clean. Just a few stray pieces of trash here and there. Woke up with the van surrounded by wild turkeys:)

This can be the perfect spot for some people. There is traffic. In 7 days 2 groups of youngins climes the tower. I was told the 4 wheelers run rampid. I did not see rampid. People were respectful and were gone on the trails. Other then that, very quiet and beautiful. Don’t come here because I don’t want it overcrowded. Limited gas station 6 miles away. Trash service only. I drove to all the Osceola camp sites. West tower has potable water. It is also better suited for tenters. East Tower has room for Larger RVs. A bus came and spent the night.

Nice boondocking for a few days. The tower is fun to climb. 1 or 2 residents that seem to have been here for a while, but they kept to themselves. Park away from the road unless you want to hear it all night.

Really easy to access. A few long termers here, not wavers so can’t attest to them being friendly or not. A couple of port o pottys and a trash can. Moderate traffic on the main forest road and a school bus that came down the camp road everyday. Some teenagers came one night to climb the tower late in the dark, sounded like they were drinking and adding to the pile of beer cans and bottles at the bottom of the tower. Broken glass everywhere by the tower so watch out if you have dogs or don’t like to wear shoes. Someone walked into the field by the tower next to our campsite one night around 12:30am and fired a single shot from what sounded like a pistol. Seemed to be another camper that was farther back in the campsite. Don’t know why and don’t know at what. There wasn’t any evidence of anything dead the next morning so... anyways. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Report Check-In

Nice area to stay, fairly quiet. lots of other campers that seem to be staying for extended time. Some mosquitoes but not too bad.

Report Check-In

primitive camp in the Osceola NF. it's only a big flat grassy area, and some places under the trees. there are only bin's- not toilet or other facilities. very quiet
