Description

Would not recommend using this entry point, you can take a paved / brick road a few kilometers further south instead (turns into dirt closer to Cerro Negro).

This is the turn off from NIC-12 where one of the main tracks to Cerro Negro starts.
Maps.me/OSM are not working so just follow the dirt road (rough in the beginning until you left Leon) and in case you get lost ask any local they know how to get there.

Latest Check-Ins

This is not a useful entry point, not sure why you would want to enter here. Drive a bit further south (like Google maps would advise you to) and take the paved / brick road instead. maps.me / OSM might be a bit funny, so don't trust them too much and rather look at the roads and take the widest and most straight forward path. If you take the brick road, there will be signs for Cerro negro at each junction, so no magic involved in getting to Cerro Negro. No need for 4x4, but some sand driving skills and some bumpy bits. It's a bit overgrown and we hit quite a few branches (2.9m tall).

Report Check-In

Very helpful map pin, which we used to get to Cerro Negro in probably the most straightforward way (although still a little challenging at times along the narrow and sandy roads). We were driving a 2WD Ford E150 van. Locals were indeed helpful when we came to forks in the road and were unsure which direction to take.
