Description

The Eastern Lake Campground 2 is in Point Washington State Forest (Walton County), about 9 miles south of Freeport, FL. This is a primitive campground located on the banks of Eastern Lake. Campsites do not have water or electric, but a restroom is available. This state forest is widely used for hunting, mountain biking and hiking. The Eastern Lake Trail system consists of three double-track loop trails and the hiker or bicyclist can travel the 3.5-, 5- or 10-mile loop. The Longleaf Greenway Trail is approximately 8 miles; it is not a loop trail, but a spur trail off the Eastern Lake Trailhead. The McQuage Bayou Horse Trail is for horseback riding only and consists of two loops offering riders their choice of a three or five-mile ride. Other recreational activities featured here are: fishing, picnicking, bird watching, wildlife viewing and photography. This forest is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Get outdoors and explore the recreational opportunities at Point Washington State Forest. $9 a night.

Great little spot. If it wasn’t for noisy neighbors in another tent spot it would have been a really nice quiet place. Nice flat spots on soft pea gravel for tents. Not sure when they come to empty trash as it was overflowing. But a nice place to camp.

Don't be fooled by the wording on the website you cannot drive all the way up to and park next to your tent site. There is a small parking lot and you have to walk your things from your vehicle to your site. If you are only equipped to live directly out of your vehicle I would not come here. Only come here if you are strictly tent camping. That being said it's a decent spot right on the water with beautiful sunsets. You are next to the highway so there is traffic noise and construction noises. The price also is misleading, all said and done with fees it is $18, pit toilet but no amenities otherwise. You also need a gate code to access the sites so you have to pay to get to the sites. Great Verizon service!

Nice spot in Point Washington State Forest. $21 for the 2 nights I stayed, reservations are made online. No running water, but there is a pit toilet and a spot to fish in the lake. Vehicles cannot access the tent pads, so if you plan to sleep in your rig you’ll have to do so in the small parking area outside of the fenced in camping area. Be advised, you cannot access the site from County Road 30A. You must bike or drive on the forest roads. However it’s only a short distance to several public beach access points.
