Something not right?

Description

$14/night in 2020. It’s pretty basic (ie. pit toilets). If you want direct river access, literally you can camp right beside the river and fish. It’s a nice spot. Also they have fresh water, even in March, so we were able to fill our jugs.

Went to enjoy a camp spot by the river & soak and found the road to Owens river Campground closed 17-06-2023. Turned left to BLM Pit Camp $5 instead on the same rd (there are 2 entrances, I suggest backing up the road and taking the first one! second was a bit sketch with a small trailer)

A local told me that Owens River Camp is currently closed due to spillage / water contamination through all Owens river and not to swim or fish in it right now! (it is run off season so I assumed that or flooding, but he said something about a chemical spill) (going to ask in visitor center or a ranger if I see one to confirm)

$14 plenty of available spots. Really lovely next to the Walker river, only a few miles from Bishop. No cell service for Verizon or T-mobile for me. People were having fun but not too noisy. check out at 10am, didn't see any ranger.

About 40 campsites spread apart along the Owen's River. It's Monday of 4th of July week and there's only 5 Camps occupied. My dog loved the flat open areas to play fetch. Sweet!

Awesome river you you feel lost getting in just have to follow the road

Hidden gem. Perfect setting right next to the Owens River. Stayed on a Monday night and we were 1 of 3 people in the campground. If you drive an 1/8 mile down the road there are more camp spots on the right.

They have a credit card kiosk machine, so you don’t need cash!

Bathrooms were usable, but don’t expect the ritz. Just your classic pit toilet.

Amazing fishing is only steps away!! Catch and release, barbless hooks only.

$15/night which is steep given it’s pretty basic (ie. pit toilets) and up the road is only $5/night. But if you want direct river access, literally you can camp right beside the river, it’s a nice spot. Also they have fresh water, even in March, so we were able to fill our jugs.
