Description

Small campground with rooms and camping next to Le Lamatin at Pointe Saint-Georges.
Run by Jaques Andre Diatta and family. Phone: 00221 77 420 44 86. / 00221 77 563 77 20. Mail to: [email protected]
We parked right next to the river and ate great meals (4000 CFA) cooked by the family.
Toilet is European style but there is no running water, just buckets.
In case you want to stay a while, make sure to bring enough veggies and fruit with you. No shop in the village.
Great place, we spent two weeks there.
Road to Pointe Saint George is a very well-maintained gravel road. Only the last 50m or so to the camp are sandy.
Possibility to pitch a tent in the shade.
Big rigs park at the end of the main gravel road, just 50m away.

Great spot, had a wonderful dinner, hard to see the Manatees but saw them! Very relaxing and nice!

Here are 3 different camps were you can rent a lodge, eat and shower. None of them can accommodate bigger rigs but there is plenty of space outside of the camps.

Perfect hideaway!
There are 3 rooms available (currently they are building 2 more). Rooms have all en-suite and nets. We payed 10.000 for two. Breakfast is 1500 pp extra (simple, but with delicious mangrove honey!).
There is electricity and WiFi from 11-16.
Food is excellent and fair priced.
We spotted dolphins several times a day, they come very close.
Manatees always come to the watchtower at low tide, huge animals and exciting to observe them.
We went by boat from here to Carabane, it’s 60.000 no matter how many people.
Excellent place to relax!

Place is ok. We parked our 4x4 directly beside the restaurant at the beach with nice view. Toilette and shower working and clean.
Pricing ok.

Fabulous spot right on the river. Road is improved all the way to the village, only a bit sandy at the entrance to the campement so no problem with any vehicles when we drove it. Shower and toilet for campers are very clean and have running cold water. Also a shower on beach after a swim. Still no fixed charge for camping so pay as you please. We just managed to get the Unimog in through trees and past the rooms, see picture. Really is worth the small sortie from Ziguinchor or detour on your way to Cap Skirring. Restaurant and bar on site but no shops in the village to buy anything.

We sadly did not spot dolphins or manatees but to be fair we did not watch all day long. Spent two really good nights there.

Not quite finished yet but the only campement where we could pass the entrance with our small truck ( 3.70 x 2.30 x 6.20) We parked right next to the river and ate great meals (4000 CFA) cooked by the family.
Toilet is European style but there is no running water, just buckets.
The dirt track to Pointe Saint Georges is under construction. The bigger part is still deep sand. Starting point is Kagnout, west of Mlomp.
In case you want to stay a while, make sure to bring enough veggies and fruit with you.
Great place, we spent two weeks there.
