Nice place to park, short mid term. Spigots all over the site, bathroom and shower. Dump station too. Quiet at night, not much of groceries around, better plan in advance for a longer stay.

All true. Free camping with potable water as long as you want. The best part about it for Chili and me is the amazing private nature preserve out back with walking paths maintained solely by the feet of the people who stay here. Wonderful community of Gypsies and vagabonds. It’s a truly special place.

What a great place. Water, dumpster and dump available . Plenty of room for any size rig. Very clean thanks to the self policing. Highly recommend. FREE!

What Falcon County Park is not:
-a paid campground with hook-ups, concrete pads, maintenance crew and only big, newer RVs.
What it IS:
+ a FREE place to stay for as long as you'd like or (need) to.
+a place to find community if you desire that or be left alone.
+a place to find a washer, fridge, microwave, warm-ish showers, flush toilets, and a clothesline :) Also, 2 big dumpsters. There are also currently a lawnmower & hand scythe to clear grass & brush from your site. For FREE. The women's bathrooms/ shower has shower curtains dividing the 2 stalls and the shower for privacy while the men's is one big open area with a sign that says, "In use" which you across the doorway. This setup is not for everyone, but the folks here are respectful and the system works. For free.
This was our family's 1st time here & we ended up staying a month. It is a former campground from the 1950's when Falcon Reservoir was being built and has scattered water access, some concrete tables, and plenty of open space to spread out & get comfortable.
There is a man who introduced himself as the 'unofficial mayor' who keeps an eye on the place.
We really enjoyed our time here & the people we met.
THANK YOU TO STARR COUNTY FOR MAKING THIS PLACE AVAILABLE!!!!

Let’s be honest! These are open unmoved fields to camp in, with broken cement picnic tables and dead trees. The showers are WARM, open, not private, and you stand on a cement floor. The sink has been rigged back onto the cement block wall. Good luck getting a turn with the washing machine, and the fridge is loaded with past due, old food that’s been left behind. I don’t know if I would be crock potting and leaving my food alone while it cooks, in a building accessible to everyone. Bad roads. Run down RV’s, abandoned tents and trailers. A dump station of questionable ends with un maintained access. The neighbouring State Park is clean and up to date.

I came for a day and stayed for over a week! What a wonderful place. What I wonder is why there can't be more places like this? Just as everyone already stated, everything is free! With no time limits on how long you can stay. Everything is clean too. Very basic but clean and free. I loved it. Also very close to the State Park and the Salinieno (sp?) wildlife refuge/ birding area and Rome is just down the road for supplies. It's also less than 30 minutes drive into Zapata if you need or desire a bigger town. Everyone I met seemed very nice too.

This place has been great for us! It's free and just like the comments said. Our AT&T has 4 bars of 5G and starlink is excellent. People are friendly and camp has been quite at night. Bathrooms are kept clean , two dumpsters, shower and flush toilets. Water faucets with great pressure around camp. Only negative is stickers in the grass. Have a great time! No Fee.

As previously described. Park was very full of every sort of RV when we arrived so we parked in what was essentially a field between a couple other campers. Quiet night.

thanks to falcon county for give this place to people to use. found the other campers friendly. many free services.

Great free spot! We ended up staying two nights as it was a nice recharge spot after crossing the border from Mexico back into the USA. Hot showers, bathrooms and plenty of room for everyone to get their own space. Everyone was very kind that we did meet, dogs enjoyed it as well!

Report Check-In

Great place, free hot showers, dog friendly, stayed two nights. T-Mobile 3bars, good Internet.

second time we are here. still the best place in the area. totally free

This place is AMAZING! Just as described. Toilets and hot showers, washing machine and a place to hang your clothes dry, water spigots all over the place so you can park next to one, and really friendly host! All for FREE! If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back! Also great Verizon reception.

Wow! What a great free spot for a night, for a week or for months at a time. Water at most sites, free showers, flush toilets, free washer, clothes line to dry. Any size rig will fit. Some roads are rutted but drivable. If you want clean showers clean then yourself, that's what self appointed camp host Chuck told us, since no one comes to clean. State park is just down the road as well. We will be back. We stayed here in a Truck Camper.

We stayed her for 3 weeks. Water at sites, hot showers. Flush toilet, fee washer- line dry, all the fire wood you need, T-mobile 5G signal. All good! Community of nice ppl was good, others kept to them selves. We’ll come back for sure!

Report Check-In

Perfect spot for Nomads, especially birding Nomads as this is sub tropical, and is considered a Birding Capitol. With birding hotspots within miles.
Great amenities, flat terrain, tents, vans, big rigs, you name it.

"Freedom Park" aka Falcon County Park is unique because it has free camping, free water, free dump, free showers & toilets, unlimited stay, and there is even a refrigerator, crockpot, & washing machine where you can wash a load of clothes all for free. I like this place and wish there were more parks like this one in this country! The only downside is that it is not close enough to Falcon Lake and the campground is located between a large wind turbine fields (red blinking lights at night) on one side and a federal border control area on the other which some people like since it's so close to the Mexico border. We plan to pop down there in a few days to get some dental work done. We found the winter weather here to be more favorable than Padre Island, but it does get hot during the summer. We have net some super nice people here!

Report Check-In

It's everything the other reviews say except for some toxic personalities at the center camp pavilion area. You're better off keeping to yourself unless you like whining and bitching. Showers and dumping your garbage and returning to your camp is more important.

Report Check-In

great place nice showers, probably best free place in Texas, water hookups at most sites friendly people, power at gazebo, free washing machine (hang dry) 10/10 would come again. javelinas didn't bother us.

Report Check-In

Nice little open campgrounds, hot showers as everyone says and the folks living there semi- permanently are super friendly. We were a little nervous to drive in at 11:30pm given the other reviews about the road but we felt the road was actually totally fine, pretty standard dirt road. Campsites are not marked, just find a tree and park under it! Enjoy ☺️

Report Check-In

fantastic free camping. tons of dispersed spots, and most with accessible water. free bathrooms with showers, and laundry if camp host Chuck is on site. who is also a delite. 10/10 would stay here again.

Report Check-In

Roads are rutted but great place for free. Some formal campsites mostly taken by long term. Other people dispersed. Great Verizon signal
