Amazing beauty, camping allowed, many flat parking spots. Right on the lake. No restrooms. Picnic tables and garbage cans available.
no running water.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
The lake manager stopped by to check in with me and let me know that the nearby residents often complain about people camping in this park and that he stops by daily to make sure everything is okay. Great guy, and he said many times that he was frustrated with how much trouble the residents are giving campers. Camping is completely legal here and he confirmed that nobody could make me leave. That being said, he did tell me that the residents often come to harass people camping here and that he wouldn't reccomend staying here alone. I was planning on heading out anyway, but now I'll be making it a point to avoid it in the future.
A real shame, since the area is nice and the park has amazing views and lake access. Like the lake manager said - rich people get mad when poor folks get the same view for free.
Report Check-InPretty area, but lots of traffic at night. Seems like a local hangout to get some privacy - lots of teen couples, cars doing burnouts, and groups of people meeting up. Not many people here during the day, but I left after 1 night because it was so busy after dark. Watch for deep mud at the shoreline as well, I sank in all the way to my knees in some areas.
Sign at entrance allows for 14 days consecutive camping.
Report Check-InNice little park, there is a nice turn around at the end of the park that's nice and flat. I've stayed here multiple different times for 3 to 4 day stretches in my Van while working in Tyler. Cops will make a round once or twice each day but they've never bothered me. I'll run my little generator on the hotter days for the pup to get some AC. As you're not there more than 7 consecutive days within a 14 day stretch they don't mind campers at all
Report Check-InExcellent stop for one night (24-hour limitation). Several locals gathered and had a bonfire, and were slightly rowdy, but not a problem (loud. cars and music). They left around 11 pm, and the rest of the night was very peaceful. No new visitors until about 9 or 10 am the next morning.
Report Check-InPorta potties. No hookups or water. Free quiet spot right on the lake.
Report Check-InQuiet park on the lake. Some park traffic but not bad for a free spot! Police officer drove by once but didn't stop or seem concerned we were there (in our skoolie nonetheless). Stayed 24 hours.
Report Check-InThis is the 2nd time we s tee eyed here although tonight we left at 10PM due to rather scrupulous activities by a Dodge Charger who was obviously involved in not so legal activity. This car made the rounds NUMEROUS times, lots of stops and starts, other vehicles meeting up with it, trunk popped the closed, over and over. Once one meetup car would leave, the cell phone glow inside the Charger was clearly visible. The 3rd time this car deliberately pointed its lights into our van we opted to leave. Better safe than sorry.
The 1st time we stayed, this happened once but we dismissed it, this time it felt "off" and aggressive.
