Description

A short 30 min hike through a canion (Quebrada) takes you to this beautiful waterfall 'Cola de la Novia'. Locals at the Hualco site recommended this place to us, they told that the Hualco chief's daughter used to bath here. There are no signs how to get there, but the locals explained it really well:
From the Hualco site, drive north the paved road. There is a crossing, left you return to the Route 40. Go right here (still paved). 2-3 km on this road you get to a dry river crossing with a height marker that indicates the water level during a flood. Right after this river crossing take the dirt road right. Follow until its end, park and start the hike in the canion. Big rigs could have problems with some low trees, our 2,50 m high roof passed really close.

Bonus: we were all alone on a cloudy Saturday morning.

Really nice hike and would be a beautiful waterfall, but no water right now in December. There was plenty of water and great swimming at La Olla down the road.

drive until here -28.456456, -67.108923 and turn right to the dirt road until the end and park here. By foot, cross the bridge and go left to find the path in the canyon. Beautiful hike 4km in 1h round trip.

I took the big wide trail on the right hand side of the canyon, but it ends up above the waterfall and you can't see it. There is also no way down. You have to follow the canyon to get there.

nice walk through the canyon. there are several trails going through, one is a easy hike, the other one you might have to climb a bit. worth to see, even if there is not much water (like now)

Amazing trek in the canyon ! But this is not an easy one, we took 1h30 to arrive at the waterfall, not 30 minutes. There is some hard obstacles, so be aware ! If you have waterproof shoes it will be easy as you can walk in the river, but otherwise you have to climb rocks.

Beautiful trekking and waterfall! The hike is medium hard. Watch out in the last part! The ladder that once was there is broken and there is a very slippery boulder to cross to finally get to the waterfall.

Thanks a lot for sharing this place! Just adding that right before the waterfall you have to climb a bit and rely on an unstable ladder which is missing a step. Be careful here. Parking spot would also be a nice wildcamp.
