Chile
Cheap hostel with comfy beds but limited kitchen facilities (two ring electric hotplate, a microwave and small fridge) and little communal space, but the best place we have stayed in Chile. Why.....because the people who run it are so friendly and well connected in the town and area. We were lucky enough to ended up with a free jeep tour of the local sights along side a journalist, ate with the owner and his son that night and he arrange for a local restaurant to cook us king crab the next. They also put us in touch with a tour to the king penguins that included other sights along the way, a visit to the last gold miner on Tiera del Fuego and included a professional photographer all day. Amazing!
Charged us $25,000 per night for family of four with breakfast.
