Parque Nacional Patagonia has 2 great hikes. Make sure to check in with the rangers before going out on a Sendero or camping at any site.
From the main entry you can drive 6kms to Puesto Amarillo where there’s a camping site. From this camping is a 10km hike to Borde de la Meseta, altitude gain 1000m. The views up in the Meseta are wonderful, and you get to see condors up close. It’s a demanding hike but well worth it. There are plenty of places to collect water on the way.
From this point you can also drive to Puesto Cisne 6kms and camp there. There is another Hike called Sendero al Cerro La Calle y Laguna Coa, it’s an easy trail with expansive views of the landscape, 10kms to Laguna Coa, and 10kms back, or you can do the whole loop.
These trails are new, and not very popular yet. We hiked both of them and it was wonderful.
I am attaching a photo of the map for better reference.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Worst hike I've ever done. 22km round trip to go to laguna Coa which has absolutely no interest. The views are incredibly boring. Made it running but still wasn't a bit interesting. This hike will get you nothing but sunburn and dehydration since there is no water on the way. I really hated this hike, especially the end which never come. You're warned now.
Report Check-InYou can no longer drive into the NP by car, the path starts at the Ranger Station. If you walk through the Roca Guacha viewpoint, it's 15km to the Refugio El Rincon
Report Check-InLoved all the hikes in N.P. Patagonia, saw the endangered "Maca Tobiano" and enjoyed our conversations with the super friendly and helpful rangers.
100% reccomended!
Note: Please beware of the opening hours from 8am to 8 pm and leave the places clean(er)!
