Description

We are traveling with bicycles and came here because of the "abandoned house" camping spot indication on Maps.me.
The abandoned house doesn't exist anymore but instead there is Doña Blanca family house and almacén.
In front of the house there is a small chappel where she allowed us to put the tent sheltered from the wind.
There are plenty of leveled space for any kind of rig.
Several local cars and trucks stoped by in the evening (Saturday), and the place is visible from road, but practically no movement after midnight.
Doña Blanca was really nice to us, and was happy with letting us spend the night here.
The place has nothing in special but Doña Blanca's home made bread, but it is ok if you are short of options in this part of the road.
View of the mountain chains is amazing from this flat valley!

Windy windy road from Balasto! The camping spot is where the small white chapel/building with the cross is. We arrived here and talked to the kind man who was sitting in front of the property. He allowed us to put our tents (we were four ppl) by the chapel, it was a decent wind protection. There was a spigot with potable water but we did not need any. There’s also a small small tienda with Oreos, energy drinks and some crackers.

Maybe if you’re just two people or one he would open the chapel for you. Kind guy, quiet place. Your seen from the road but your inside the house fence and there’s little to no traffic.

You can easily pass this place if you don't pay attention. There is nothing out here for a very long time. It also seems like nobody is home... but if you yell... the family will come out. They have tasteless bread and it's a little expensive... 40 pesos each. But more importantly she has vegetables and some food and drinks to buy. I ran out of water and desperately needed to eat. So it's a perfect location to get a break and eat.

We didn't spend the night here but it looked like a place you could park or pitch a tent. She keeps a farm full of animal and has plenty of space. We bought some bread and some "chivo" meat. This place is in the middle of nowhere and the views are amazing.
