Description

Nice, bright and clean hostal about a 10-15 minute walk from the main plaza and across the street from the free Banco Museum. A private room for $10 USD per person per night. Includes towels, soap, shampoo. The hostel has a gated secure parking area attached, only big enough for one small rig (it was a bit of a tight squeeze for us). Friendly owner. Lots of natural light and looks better than the photos show.

One of the best hostels we've stayed at! We paid 23$ for a matrimonial with shared bathroom (booking.com price) the hostel looks very modern and nice (much better than the photos), is super clean and quiet. There is a secure garage where we could park our motorbikes but contact them beforehand if you have a vehicle because it's not really the hostel parking, it's the brother's owner mechanic shop next door. The kitchen is very nice as well and they have two terraces. WiFi works well and they have a café in the hostel open Monday to Saturday. The owner is very friendly as well! The matrimonial room is a bit small so if you want more space ask for a twin room :)

Excellent hostel!
Nice owners.
There is nothing to complain about.
I will come again.

Absolutely fantastic hostel! I’ve been travelling for a while now and it’s definitely one of my favourites.
Clean, spacious, friendly staff, convenient location, good wifi, well priced, hot water (I can’t believe this has become a luxury for me 😅), parking available in the evenings for $3, various chill out zones, and just an overall good vibe.

This is one of my favourite hostels during my 2 years of travelling. It is modern, full of light, comfortable, staff is very friendly and helpful indeed. Their cafe next door serves excellent coffee , cake, breakfast etc
And guests get a price reduction.
My car was stored next door, a little bit complicated as it cannot stay there during working hours of the mechanic. But staff quickly organised a space for me during the day and parked it for me. A camping car would not fit. But I am sure that they would find a solution.

cannot recommend enough this hostel! travelling for 5 months around South America and possibly consider it our best so far! we had serious problems with one of the motorbikes and Javier (the owner) recommended and accompanied us to his mechanic who saved our trip!
shiny clean, good WiFi, hot shower and comfortable common areas. being a designer myself I appreciated the overall aesthetics of Alternative hostel.
must stay place! thanks Javier for everything

Great family run hostel with a garage for motorcycles or a small rig. Exceptionally clean with good amenities. Very good location at walking distance to the center. The the family also runs the cafe below where you can taste different styles of brewed cafe with delicios deserts for a real good price. It's my second time here after one and a half years and its obvious that they take care of the place really well. The owners Xavier and Chris know the surroundings profoundly and can answer all your questions. Strongly recommended.

Very nice, clean and fairly modern hostel. Great host and friendly atmosphere. paid 9dollars for a 3 bed shared room with breakfast. not the cheapest in town but it was really clean and I was by myself in the room. wifi was good only late at night or in the am. it has motorcycles garage available in the mechanic shop next door. secure. very lovely owner, also biker that gave me some good tips about town. breakfast was decent and various (bananas, bread, butter, jam, coffee and tea). a bit noisy because close to the main road but beds and linen are good. they give you towel, shampoo and soap. hot showers ! yeeeeeah!

Clean hostel with hot showers! Wifi was a little iffy as it would go in and out. A private room was $11/pp a night and parking was $3 a night.

Clean, welcoming, moto parking in garage around side of building. A little loud when the guest are competing to talk. Laundry service available. An good eatery is just outside the door, but not affiliated with hostal.

This is a great place to stay. Friendly, helpful and relaxed staff. Great secure parking for our two motorcycles. Good kitchen and bathrooms, nice common areas, wifi works fairly well and the atmosphere is quiet. A private room with two single beds cost us $11 per person per night. Towels, soap and shampoo included as stated below. Cuenca is a beautiful city and this place is close enough to walk it easily.

room ok but very thin wall and thus very noisy when you have a crazy girl next door who like to repeat her same heroic story to every guest passing by..
Breakfast is basic.
Very good parking in a garage.. easy for oil change ;) but not easy access once the bike is in. But it's secure anyway, that's the most important.
Location is not bad, 5/10 minutes walk from the central park.

Very nice owner, bikes enthusiasts !

Comfortable and friendly place. 22USD a night for two.

This place is on a busy street corner so there's traffic noise. Nice, comfortable, clean wifi up and down, easy walk to historic area and restaurants. Great secure parking for our motorcycles.

Nice Hostal with friendly stuff. Good kitchen. Included breakfast is not worth to mention (2slices of Toast, butter, marmelade, fruits); bed in a 5-dorm: $9; wifi mostly works well. There is a computer free to use as well. Parking my bicycle was no problem in the entrance

$12 per person for double bed room. No private bathroom, but shared look clean. Modern stylish hostal. Garage is Mr oil. They do oil changes. Gps coords makes you look to the wrong side. It is on corner Cacique Duma, you need to turn in that street for garage.

After looking for 2.5 hours for a place in Cuenca, we went here. Great hostel at a good price. They charged us $10pp with breakfast (just coffee, bread and banana). All other places were $15pp and up.

Adding to what others said... We checked out a couple of the other hostels listed and found this to be the best. GREAT parking, our friend changed his oil while we were here. The owners love Moto-travelers and the staff is super nice. It's not in the very center, but it's a nice walk. Great cheap/good eating options across the street in addition to the cafe next door. Great place to get some blogging or photo organizing done as there are desks in the private rooms. Highly recommend.
