This is definately worth a stop. The church is decorated in incredible mosaic tiles with excellent modern craftsmanship. religious or not this is worth a visit. Not just the church, but the courtyard and the space on the right.
The town square in the village a few km east is also worth a look.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
What a beautiful surprise. You turn off the main road on to a gravel road through a non-descript village. You go down a small hill and there is this amazing church on your left. Definitely worth the stop. They charge 5 soles to enter the grounds and the church but it is well worth it. I am not religious but it is nice to find these treasures in places where you might least expect them.
Report Check-InThe sanctuary of the Virgen del Rosario is truly wonderful, a great work of art, a must-see place if you go to Cajamarca. It is currently open to the public, entry costs 5 soles.

Report Check-InPreciosa iglesia, pero ya no por el trabajo realizado por chicos/as de 15 a 17 años, sino por la historia que hay detrás, de un sacerdote que vino de Roma. Pregunten
Report Check-InVery busy in the morning, lot’s of busses with local tourists. Better visit this place late afternoon.
Report Check-InAs all the other comments say: 100% worth the visit!!!
I just wanted to add that the church and courtyard are closed between 12-2pm so make sure to visit before or after these times.
There are some nice restaurants in town where you can stop for lunch if you do arrive between these times. Make sure to try the trout ceviche (which is different to the ceviche you get on the coast) or another trout dish as it is framed locally so extra fresh!
Report Check-InReally cool place, and they accept cyclotravellers. So you can camp here or they can lend you a room full of beds
Report Check-InCrazy and unique church full of mozaic!
Stop there 100%!!!
On my way back 3 charming farmer ladies asked me to drive them up with some vegetables bags. I couldn't refuse!! It was a very nice moment... :)

Report Check-InAmazing! Really worth a stop. Beautiful mosaics, particularly the ceilings inside the church.
