Latest Check-Ins

Dan does not run the Camp anymore - he had been forced off the land by the tribal chief who, in conjunction with a local family, attempted to take over the business. How sad as quality and service has decreased a lot 😞

Report Check-In

Owner change Place has completely changed No cruises anymore and camp need‘s proper maintenance

We stayed here for two nights. It was run and managed by “Dan the river man” but he left due to a fallout with the locals whose land it is. I spent many hours speaking to the “land owners”, Michael and gave them a crash course on entrepreneurship. He listened intently and went about enthusiastically cleaning up and revamping. This place has so much potential as there are lots of elephant, hippo and crocs. It’s wild here and beautiful. Michael promised to keep the price at N$150pppn max! Well at least until things are fixed up with functionality at the sites and water and flush toilets are fixed etc! I will definitely stop here again.

Campsite 1 is well situated along the river, spending 3 nights here and what a pleasure. Huge sites, access to the river, plenty of birdlife too. Ablutions private and clean. Even a private dining room.

Report Check-In

Very large campsites with private ablutions and sometimes a river view. We went on a boat trip, highly recommended. Dan is truly a knowledgeable guy about both the wildlife and the politics of the region. Lovely guy to have a chat with. Minor repairs were immediately taken care of. Fire was made everyday. 300 n$ pppd. Highly recommended campsite.

Quiet and relax place. Along the river, we saw croco and heard hippos. Lukas Welcome us very well.

A wonderful place - one of the best campsites in this area! Spacious places, only four! Really well designed and nicely created infrastructure - every site has own ablutions, a kitchen hut, a hut with a „living room“, nice fireplace, even a bookshelf with some books in it! Firewood already prepared. Wonderful view on the river and the flood plain. We had camp site #2 - wonderful! Road is approx. 6 km, sandy, but good to drive. Worth every dollar, as others wrote below! Boat trip is wonderful!!! We stayed there 2 nights, didn‘t want to leave, will come back!!

Nice place to stay at and large campsite with firepit, undercover tables and chairs, washup area and ablutions. Hot water using a donkey boiler. We were on Site 4 and most views are of the reeds. The hippos were however very close by. Isaac too us for a cruise which was very pleasant through the reeds to the main channel. Crocs., Ellies, Lechwa, Kudu eyc. were seen.

Our fifth time here and it never disappoints. Another epic boat trip with Dan and both the campsite and the boat trips are worth every single dollar. Don’t miss this place.

Very nice Campsite very well maintained. Beautiful views of the flood plains with hippos roaming outside the water. Lots of birds too. Amenities are excellent and very neat. Price still 270ppn. Boatrip in the area is great: hippos, lechwes, kudus, buffalos, giraffes, loads of birds and some elephants from far away. We were also lucky to see a female sitatunga antelope with its baby.

We stayed at campsite 2 which is large with a nice view of the river but it is a very sandy site so we were constantly cleaning out our camper.
We did the morning river cruise with Dan and really enjoyed it - would recommend.
Several people staying at lodges and campsites in the area came and did cruises with Dan so it is not necessary to camp to do a cruise with him.

We stayed two nights at camp no 4 which is quite private/separate from the oter camps and has nice view of the river/hippos. No 4x4 needed gir the drive in but high clearance recommended. No electricity or drinking water st sites. Did a wonderful early morning boat cruise with Dan the owner. Lots of birds, hippos, antelops. Camp N$ 270/Pers. boat cruise N$ 450/Pers for 3- 4 hours. Recommended.

Beautiful campsite directly at the Kwando river. Private bathroom, kitchen and a hut with table and chairs. We did a boattrip with a guide and had an amazing adventure. We saw loads of hippos, kudus, elephants and buffaloes. We really recommend this place.

Report Check-In

We really liked this campsite with your own ablutions and dining area, very private campsites, with beautiful view over the plains or the hippo pool. The boat tour is highly recommended, we saw a lot of animals: buffalos, elephants, hippo's, crocodiles, monkeys and antelopes. We understand what they meant with an adventurous boat tour, you come really close to the hippo's because the river is not very wide.

We took a very scenic and adventurous boat trip with Dan at the helm. Having Dan onboard was half the fun!! We meandered past groups of boisterous hippos and the occasional crocodile. Plenty of birdlife and Dan identified everyone of them for us. Before turning back we swam in the river with cool beers. This trip was 5 star for us. We paid Dan NAD500pp. Well worth it!!!!

Report Check-In

Lovely ‘rustic’ but beautiful laid our camp sites. Individual ablutions, kitchen and fire/braai area. Camp 1 & 2 on the river. Camp 3 & 4 would be when the river levels are higher. No power but solar lights in the bathrooms and ‘dining room’. A stunning stay. Dan organizes boat trips. We had an elephant visitor for breakfast next to the campsite!
Highly recommended.
