Description

This is one of the best quality and most affordable camp sites we have found in Kenya. We camped next to the water tower in our vehicle. There are campsites for tent and self catering cottages. Cost of camping was 500Ksh per person. You have to buy conservancy fee of 3000Ksh per person as well. The facilities are clean and the staff are very good. There is a kitchen that you can use, hot shower in some of the cottages. Good wifi at one of the cottages.

As described in other comments: One of the best and what you get for the price places! Simon and Chris run the place and provide helpful info for self-driving safari in the Rukinga Conservancy (part of the Tsavo Conservancies). Toilets and showers with running water, wifi, sitting & relaxing area, bonfire provided. Cold soda and beers can be purchases at Simon's "Honest Bar". Approximately 2-3 spots for small campervans with rooftent, more space for additional tents available.

We stayed 3 days and did several morning and evening game drives, where we saw lots of elephants (groups of up to 30 individuals), giraffes and zebras, even a hyena at the water hole and other different animals. A lion was heard around the camp at one night. Check out the Lokidori hill for beautiful sunset view over Mount Kasigau (s. map on pictures).

We paid 500 Ksh ppn for camping, 400 Ksh fee for the car and 600 Ksh pp as Conservancy fee for non-residents (not 3000 Ksh as others indicated, maybe due to the time of visit).

The campsite is called Kivulu camp. A great camp in the middle of Tsavo conservancy. Clean and basic cold water showers and western toilets. A really great camp team led by Simon, cold sodas, beer and wine available. Big fireplace. We stayed 3 nights and could have stayed longer. The beauty is you pay only 1 fee for the entrance to the conservancy no matter how long you stay and you can self drive as much as you want. We had some fantastic sightings of elephant, giraffe, geronouk, massive eland etc etc and the park itself is beautiful. You can drive to sundowner hills and also there are hikes for the cooler weather. other campers also saw cheetah not far from the camp. 500ksh pppn camping plus 3000ksh pp conservancy fees plus small fee for vehicle. Highly recommend!
