The emphasis lies on "if you have to". Extending the Visa was a full day's work and I only managed in one day because of luck I reckon.

You'll need:
A passport copy
A vaccination copy
2 photos
A plane ticket (which was waived when I said I was travelling by motorbike)
A hotel confirmation

Then you have to go to Ecobank and pay in USD 80 (for a three month extension). This took me 4 hours of standing in line. This was fast (!) - the officers at the ministry even congratulated me on my speed when I got back. I thought I would have to go back to the bank the next day.

From the bank you go back to the ministry with the receipt where they take your prints and photo. My Visa was then ready for pick up the next day. The staff was pretty friendly.

When I first entered the compound a guard tried to sell me a black market 1 year Visa extension for USD 70. Maybe would have been less of a hassle xD
