Peru
Stop here for good cheeses, yoghurt and quinoa snacks.
Propina to camp inside the factory gate.
Little cheese factory next to the road. We asked the owner and we was able to stay for fee next to his house. Really friendly. His name is Ruben.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Just stopped by and asked to camp. They said no. Apparently another overlander ran over one of their dogs, which is so sad for everyone.
Report Check-InGreat little spot! They let us park inside their locked gates for the night if we gave them a little tip or bought some cheese in the morning. Really friendly guy and they have friendly llamas! Quiet, peaceful sleep with a great night's sky. Plenty of space.
Report Check-InWe arrived at nightfall so just slept at the parking lot. Really quiet night, very little traffic, very dark, beautiful night sky full of stars. The next day we wanted to buy some cheese, but could only taste one kind and the taste was kinda weak so we ended up not buying any... Good spot though to spend the night.
Report Check-InStill possible to stay overnight. Not really quiet at night. We arrived around 4 PM, the shop and restaurant were closed, as well as the gate. So, we parked at the parking lot in front and stayed there overnight. In the morning, the gate was open, but the shop and restaurant were still closed. We went to the gate and made a sign to a man at the back. He gave sign to wait in the front of the store. A lady opened the window of the store, she sold us some cheese. She told us normally the store is open 7 days a week ... but now they were very busy and she was tired, so she didn’t open the store. We asked to fill some bottles with tap water, which she very friendly did for us.
Report Check-Inwe stopped here for some really fantastic butter and cheeses. The Andino was the closest to cheddar cheese we've had in S.A., the Gouda was a little sharper, and the sheep cheese was very similar ty...i a dry hard parmesan. We got a bunch of cheese and butter. 1/2 wheel of cheese 10s. We were heading to Lake Titicaca, but there's plenty of room for big rigs to park.
Report Check-InSo nice people here !! We just bought some cheese and they proposed us to sleep in their closed garden. 🤗
Report Check-InWe bought a yogurt and asked if we could sleep there. She was very friendly. We use the bathroom of the workers. When we were there, there were two cyclists with tents ..
When we left the next day we did not see the owner as if to tip her.
Good place.
Report Check-Ingreat spot our second visit to the cheese factory. don't forget the fresh yogurt.
Report Check-InHello
Really good place for sleep with your motorhome.
We are arriving when the night arrive and ask for sleep inside the close place.
They accept.
When we get up after a really good night we buy for more than 100 sols of cheese, yoghourt and so on...
It's realy good product and the women was friendly.
There is a nice dog also in this place.
There is toilets but we don't use.
Very big rigs are ok.
We stopped here to sleep and bought some great cheese.
We asked to sleep in their closed parking and it was just perfect. We have toilets that you can use.
The woman is really shy but super nice.
We offered them a big bread for letting them sleep here and they were really happy.
Nice place to camp !
very good cheese( gouda, tilsiter, parmesan ..). johurt is however only with suggar. we got a short tour around the factory. the cheese is sold in many places in south of peru up to lima. they told us the have the shop open every day.
Report Check-InHad a good "queso frito" (kind of the andean version of the raclette) in the restaurant, 8 soles.
Report Check-InAfter buying a bunch of cheese, yoghurt and quinoa snacks we asked if we could stay by the factory for a propina (we would usually have kept going to wild camp but, lazy). Safe and sound night. There's a restaurant here too. Lovely people. Good selection of cheeses (inc gouda and parmesan) and we recommend the yoghurt - it's got sugar in it, but no hooves.
Report Check-InWe spoke to a lady behind the counter in the shop who said we could stay overnight if we gave them a "propina" so we bought some cheese etc and gave them 12 soles extra, which they were happy with. They gave us a short tour round the cheese factory the next morning.
