You need to spend a night at the lodge in order to drive through, contact details in attached picture.
We asked around and got a number to call (PFBelize Hill Bank Field Station: +501 615 3900, contact details attached in photos). They told us the only way to be allowed to drive through is when you spend a night at the lodge (we guess they mean La Milpa lodge). Camping is not permitted and driving through not either when you don't spend the night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.

We earned to drive to Lamanai directly from San Ignacio through the Rio Bravo Conservation Area. We asked around and got a number to call (PFBelize Hill Bank Field Station: +501 615 3900, contact details attached in photos).
They told us the only way to be allowed to drive through is when you spend a night at the lodge (we guess they mean La Milpa lodge). Camping is not permitted and driving through not either when you don't spend the night. So we opted for the detour through Orange Walk.
You need a permit to enter the Rio Bravo Conservation area. Road closed for those who do not have one.
