Latest Check-Ins

According to the City of Durango’s website, overnight parking is always allowed here but only after 5pm on weekdays as it requires permits during business hours. The sign posted at the lot also says free parking ALL DAY on Saturday and Sunday, suggesting free parking overnight. There are no signs posted saying “no overnight parking” as other spots/parks in Durango have. If you search overnight parking Durango, this municipal city lot pops up instantly. Don’t know why people haven’t tried this yet… it’s one block off of Main Street and next to Camino del Rio dr, so a little noisy with cars passing but seems like a safe bet to me if you’re looking for something last minute or if all nearby BLM spots are taken up.

Free parking after 5pm on weekdays or all weekend long: nice spot, tons of parking, small areas for dogs to go potty, lots of road noise but otherwise safe.

Report Check-In

Parked here for the day. Great spot to park and walk downtown. City ordinance is no sleeping in vehicles, so not allowed. If you stay there you’re risking a fine from police if they stop.

Report Check-In

Paying parking from 7am to 5pm. Free at night. Spent the night here and didn't get a knock on the door telling me RVs weren't allowed. Didn't see any signs either not allowing RVs.

I LOVE DURANGO. And I am a full timer. The biggest key to vanlife in Durango is be discreet, and don’t blow up your sleeping spots while in town. The “rapidly changing speeds”, are because driving south on the million dollar highway is very precarious and you are up past 10,000 feet elevation, up and down, with no guard rails. and it’s very important to listen to all those speed limits. You can sleep at the transit center. Just don’t draw too much attention to yourself. Get in late, get out early.

Report Check-In

SKIP DURANGO. Don’t spend a dime here. You will likely be greeted by radar traps on your way down the mountain, so pay attention to the rapidly changing speed limits. These people are rich, yuppie, mountain townies. These people are not welcoming to van lifers.

Forest roads were closed for winter, so we wound up staying in the Cherry Creek Gravel lot which is a big, rocky hill to get into.

In Center of Durango. Free Parking Monday thru Friday 5:00 pm to 7:00 am and all da Weekends and Holidays. One Minute walk to nice Main Street. Quiet at night, but sometimes noise from a train. Free Wifi from nearby Denny's when you use a close site of the Transit Parking Lot.
