Convenient for one night as previously stated. Interesting place with a Massai museum and the snake park included in the camping fee of USD 10 ppn (essentially supporting the charity). Is the base camp for some local tour operator but even now when two of their vehicles were occupied and present this was not an issue.

Report Check-In

Two nights here. As the most recent prior comment mentioned music I enquired prior to staying. The
Staff was not aware of a incident. Anyway noise is typical when close
To a main road but nothing as unusual such as music. Goes to show you can’t make a decision on a comment regarding a transient type complaint. Bathrooms fine now and of Ma is wonderful. No other overlanders here

Report Check-In

We arrived here the day before our onward journey. We had heard of it as Overlandheaven. It is a small snake park with a museum, which serves to provide a clinic against snakebite for the whole of northern Tanzania. Free of charge. Financed with the income from the square and the sights. At its heart is a small but well-ordered pub run by 'Ma', which I would describe as authentic and honest. For the 10 $ppN you get an acceptable place, decent toilets and the feeling that you haven't really put money into the pockets of some western investors, but have actually done something for the people living here. Ma' is a unique and very pleasant person.
9/10 very pleasant atmosphere, the tourist attractions were not my cup of tea. .

Report Check-In

As described however very very loud music from the village in the night, sounded like the speaker was by my ear. We left after 1 night for some peace and quiet at Mbega Lodge campsite.

Report Check-In

Ma is wonderful, knowledgeable and more than accommodating. We enjoyed having drinks in her bar and she organised us dinner (taking into account my dietary needs). We stayed 2x nights and paid 88K TSH - large flat area suitable for big rigs, ground tents and rooftop tents (not seen in the photo). We went on the Masaai cultural tour (included in the camping fees) which was very informative and we really enjoyed. We also viewed some of the snake park which needs a bit of TLC but understandably, there’s no money coming in from tourism at the moment.

Awesome people and everything you need 👍🏽

Report Check-In

A bit quiet during COVID. Bar closed at 18:00 (but it has real ambience and would be jumping in busy times). Expensive parking spot for a self sufficient big rig. $10 pppn.
Plenty of room for big rigs.

Report Check-In

Pet friendly place, the bathroom and toilet facilities are new and very sanitary. Awesome bar with kind staff, everyone is very welcoming. The snake park is worth a tour, with lots of indigenous species, as well as crocodiles, rehabilitated birds and tortoises. The guides in the park are also well educated and friendly.

Report Check-In

We stayed for 1 night only. Ablutions were dirty, smelly and full of bugs. Road noise all night long and next to that the guards were playing the same song over and over during night time. The little houses were nice to shelter from the rain. The snake park makes up for it (but only just). Don't think we will come back.

Report Check-In

We stayed for 2 nights, facilities is good. Workshop to do repairs and the owners is very nice and helpful. Good place to get info on Serengeti.

Report Check-In

Open shaded campsite. Few facilities on site. Ablutions clean but showers only warm. Used by many overlanders
Bar area is unusual; snacks avail, but if staying o/n let them know and u get on the “family dinner list” and get a much better meal.
PJ a great resource if you have mechanical problems and Ma a great resource for most all else.
$10pppn camping; family dinner - TS14,000; b’fast - TS10,000.
Snake park is free & worth a visit
Would go again.

Report Check-In

Ma & PJ, South Africans, run a great outfit. A sundowner or two at the eccentric bar is a great way to wrap up the day.
The snake and reptile facility, guided by the highly knowledgeable Rashid was special......and I thought it would be boring, his gentle tour was excellent.
10usd pppn, SIM cards 100 metres from the entrance.

Report Check-In

Its ok, but not the best campsite and we expected more after the comments below. There is no where to do dishes and the ablutions are a bit run down. However the owners are very friendly have plenty of advice to give and the bar is a fun place to have a beer in the evening. It was fine for a night and good value when the price if camping $10 pp also includes the snake park and Masai museum. It’s a major stop for overlanding trucks there were 5 there when we arrived.

Report Check-In

Still 10 USD pppn incl entry to the snake park. The campsite itself is simple with a big grass field where you can camp. Toilet and shower are okay, but not really clean. The bar is the main thing with a good vibe and friendly people. Also the owners are very knowledgeably and can help you out.
If you are looking for a nice and beautiful campsite, your best bet is outside of Arusha.

Report Check-In

We loved snake farm. They have very clean flush toilettes and hot shower (electric ones). The owners are an South African couple, lovely lady and her husband. So the campsite has this South African atmosphere especially at the bar. We had great time there also meeting other travelers.

Report Check-In

10usd to camp which includes snake park entry. Nice bar with cheap food and drink, owners are very nice to chat with.

Cool place! Camping is now $10 pp but that includes entry to the snake park which costs $20 on its own!! Snake park is actually very cool - some crocs, tortoises and enormous pythons! Campsite is good - toilets and shower were clean, and the bar is awesome!

Report Check-In

water is with electric heater but didnt work

friendly staff, power available with long extension from bungalow. not much shade.

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay. Ma is great, she can help you with everything!
The snake park and Maasai museum is nice to visit! The campsite is busy in the high season with overland trucks, but they bring good company and story's in the bar.
The bar is far enough from the campsite, if you want to sleep, you don't hear them.
Showers are warm, but make sure the electricity is on. (Switch is on the outside of the building)

Report Check-In

Enjoyed our stay. Snake Park (together with Ma, BJ and Deon) are part of Africa overlanding history. The pub tells thousands of stories. If you need work done on your car BJ is probably your best bet.

Report Check-In

Okay campsite for one night. Noisy street next to the campsite, ablutions are okay, but there is a weird smell. If you are short like me, you cannot reach the shower head for hot water. Mainly large overland groups, no real shade. Snake park is definitely worth a short visit. The Maasai museum has a nice set up. Many shops after museum, but no hard core sales. Easy to just look and shop around.

Report Check-In

A very worthwhile stopover! Camping is $8pppn and includes access to the snake park with an impressive collection. Profits go to benefit snake bite clinic, saving lives. And there is a workshop on site, owner very graciously helped us. fix some bits and bobs on the old Landy. Restaurant serving basic and affordable food. Frequented by overlanders but wasn't too busy when we visited.

Report Check-In

Convient camp spot for this end of Arusha for safari or getting to north West. Mainly used by overland groups . Great friendly bar. Visit the informative snake park and the snake bite clinic . This camp does some great work Saving lives.

I rode into this campground on my motorcycle, then turned around and rode out and back up the road to Meserani Oasis. This place is great for the big overland trucks and safari tour trucks, but is nothing more than a big lawn with almost no trees. Much nicer and quiter tent camping just up the road.

Report Check-In

Quiet spot as long as the overlanders are quite. The main road is barely to hear. Facilities are run down but still a nice camp.

Report Check-In

Open area with some trees and a number of huts. A lot of overland trucks.
