Description

We crossed from Pto. Cayo via Jipijapa, Daule, Babahoyo, and Guaranda to Riobamba. In between we did not see many places to park overnight. We happened to notice this one leaving Juan Montalvo toward Balsapampa. It's a quiet and safe place away from the road. It also is a rehab center for drug and alcohol addicts, but this was no problem for us; the staff was nice. While it looks and is a bit run down, it also serves as "balneario" for locals. There are some nice natural water pools, which you are welcome to use. We spent only one night, and the toilet we were told to use worked. We paid $5 per person for the one night. Probably few overlanders travel this route, but if you do, this is one place you can stop over for the night. Note: GPS coordinates are approximate. As you drive eastward out of town up the hill, the place is on the left. There is a sign.
