Latest Check-Ins

Per the last persons report, when driving up riordan hill drive (the FSR) there will be a split where one can go left or right. Left is the way to proceed up the mountain and to pine risk wild camp sites white right will lead you to the “Family Man” day use area which used to connect back on to the main road. At some point the aforementioned chained gate was installed. Just ensure you stay left at the fork and you’ll get to the camp spots without trouble.

Report Check-In

Tried to get there tonight at like 10 but came to a chained gate. Google maps didn't seem to reveal a way around. At least where the gate is tons of no parking overnight / camping signs

Report Check-In

Once you leave the pavement, the road turns to an eventually very steep but pretty well graded gravel road followed by a still steep, dry (on 2022/10/02), but deeply rutted dirt road for the last short section. The last section you’ll definitely want 4WD and high clearance for. The gravel road doesn’t need high clearance at all, but heavier 2WD vehicles may not have enough drive traction to make it up. I wouldn’t try the last dirt road section if it was wet or muddy at all unless I had a very capable vehicle. I made it up towing a high clearance off road trailer, but it was a bit of a challenge and not for the faint of heart.

Once on top, there is one great spot with enough room for two rigs in the same party towards the end of the road, a nearby grassy spot for maybe two rigs in the same party (less ideal), and one other spot that is not a very nice campsite, but could work for a quick overnight.

3 bars of LTE on Verizon. Plenty of clear sky for solar. Beautiful views.

Report Check-In

Super windy spot with very cool views even on cloudy days

Report Check-In

Windy in the evening, calm in the morning. Gorgeous view, including a clear shot of Mount Hood. There’s a maybe 2-3 spots where there are pull-outs with fire pits at the top of this vista, but I had it to myself. Highly recommend (if you have a 4x4 or high clearance vehicle to get up the road)

Report Check-In

didn't stay here because it's small 4x4 only

Report Check-In

we didn't stay here because the road was so rutted and muddy
impossible in a 2wd after pulling off 1000
great views for small 4×4's

Report Check-In

Great views, quiet and peaceful. 4 bars T-Mobile 5g. Fair amount of nails around fire pit, and buggy in the afternoon but worth it.

Report Check-In

Beautiful views, established fire ring, flat spot but a bit windy.
