Here you can ask David for a personal boat (6 person max) at 100 USD just for watching whales or 150 USD also whales and going with your own lunch in desert island with birds, you can swim, there isnt any feeded turtle but some corail and few fish.
You just need 20 minuts to reach the place instead of more than an hour for isla la plata (with 16 people per boat). It's an another untouristic alternative for whales.

This is not accurate anymore. We tried to get a private boat, but it wasn't possible according to the guy there.
Besides all the tour companies have an agreement together. From 1 July - 31 December they cannot go under $45. From 1 Jan - 30 June they can go till $35. It doesn't matter where you book, because they put everyone in one boat up to 16 persons.
We enjoyed the whales and seeing some Blue-footed Boobies :).
But you can also go with a fisherman for $20. He cannot go to Isla La Plata, but you can go to another island where you can see the Blue-footed Boobies closely from a beach. You can also go on any time you want. So it sounds less touristic but fun. We've read reviews in different languages from his notebook and they were all positive.
