Camp site on a paddock with old apple trees. Provides a shelter, fireplace and long drop toilet. There's a small stream running across the property. There's a sign with a teleplone number written on it that you're supposed to call when you intend to stay. The guy doesn't speak any English, so we texted him an Google-translated message, which worked well enough. He didn't even want any money from us.

Beautiful site on a small peninsula in a lake, covered by forest. Nice and quiet. Long drop toilets were ... full at the time we visited, so bring a shovel.

Access is by a narrow, winding path covered with protruding roots. Doable with a normal cars with decent clearance, but lowered vehicles and bigger rigs might struggle.

This place is a gem. Located in a beautiful forest right next to a lake. There are numerous spots to camp, with benches, fireplaces and pit toilets provided. We paid €6 per night for an adult and a child, a car and a tent.

August 17th, 2017 Free Place To Camp

A bit uninspiring place, but free nevertheless.

There are multiple spots to camp around this small lake surrounded by forest. Beware of party people on summer weekends.

August 11th, 2017 Scenic Camping Spot By The River

Scenic camping spot in a beautiful pine forest next to a river bend. A bit littered, though. There is a main spot with a shelter and fireplace and a small beach, which is frequented by locals. There are more spots down the path, which are more quiet.

There are a couple of camping spots around the lake. At the coordinates specified, there is one supposedly free site, which was taken by the time we arrived.

Next to it, there are two more lots, also adjacent to the lake, with phone numbers you're supposed to call when you intend to stay overnight. This is where we stayed. The phone number didn't work, however, a lady came around to collect 3€ for the night. Nice place overall, but kind of extreme with mosquitoes.

Access is via a bumpy dirt/Forest road from Ziurai (turn left into the forest road at the first hamlet after Ziurai) or a slightly better one from Mergezeris (just turn into the next best forest road when you're just east of the place).

This is a paid site. There are many lots surrounded by trees and also a large free area. Wooden shelters as well as fireplaces are available. There is a river with a small sand beach nearby. There are long drop toilets. Price was (2017) €1,50 per vehicle, 1€ per person and 1€ per tent. Children are free. The friendly owner(?) comes by at some point to collect the fees.

August 10th, 2017 Beautiful Paddock

Two big baddocks, surrounded by trees, near a small stream. One long drop toilet, fireplace, seating benches. Apparently, the place is being maintained by somebody. At the time we visited, we were the only ones there and nobody came around to collect money. Can't guarantee this is a free site, though.
