October 11th, 2021 Sugarloaf Ridge state park

Loved the campground with large sites, great trails for hiking/biking and a hot shower. All very clean and well taken care off.

August 15th, 2021 Burlington Campground

Nice campground in the Redwoods. Very clean bathrooms and hot coin showers.
Sites are plenty big and we did not feel on top of our neighbors at all. Not for big rigs but there are plenty of RV parks close by for those needing it.
Also the campground full sign seems to be permanently in place. We did not have a reservation and just asked, were able to check in after 2 pm.

August 10th, 2021 Big Lagoon/Humboldt County Park

If you are like us and did not make campground reservations 6 months ahead in one of the State Parks nearby this is your place to go. All first come, first serve. Some sites are better than others but location is great for exploring. While infrastructure is old bathroom/ shower is very clean. Actually the shower is amazing! Very friendly and helpful camp host. We were very satisfied and stayed several nights, switching sites as they opened up.
The lagoon is beautiful to explore via kayak, SUP, canoe and the beach is endless and amazing.

August 9th, 2021 Clam Beach County Park

If you cannot get a spot in one of the State Parks or you want to be close to Arcata this will work. You have traffic noise from 101 but nice beach access. As others mentioned it is small but has plenty overflow in paved parking lot . The bathroom is just fine and water available at one spicket. Most likely not a place to spend several days but certainly a decent overnight spot.

April 26th, 2021 Henry Coe State Park

In Spring time this is a beautiful place to visit. Campsites are $20, there is water and very clean pit toilets. Very nice hiking trails start from the campground and wild flowers are abundant in spring. There are also many backpacking options.

October 2nd, 2020 PCT Trailhead

Great spot at the trailhead. Picnic tables. Toilets locked today, end of season.
Beautiful and quiet.

August 28th, 2020 Usal Beach Dispersed Camping

Beautiful free remote camping. Lovely beach and nice hiking trails. Plenty of camp options once you make it out there.
Avoid weekends.

April 22nd, 2020 Golfo Azul Camping

We got stuck here during the Covid 19 crisis for 4 weeks. The location across the beach is great, of course due to the lockdown we did not get to enjoy it much. The campground is as described, bathrooms not so great and needing
repairs. However showers are hot and there are enough.
I want to really applaud Gillermo, the administrator of this campground. Not only did he help us fix our truck, he had to go shopping for us since we were not allowed outside the campground. He and his family were extremely kind and supportive to us.

March 17th, 2020 Caja Office Port Fees

We parked here overnight during the Covid 19 Crisis the night before shipping. Usually it’s not possible to stay overnight here but due to no other options they allowed 5 Overland vehicles for the night.

March 12th, 2020 Nilson, Vino al Paso

Cute wine bar with nice homemade tapas in a sweet atmosphere.

February 8th, 2020 Camarones Municipal Campsite

Nice campground as described by others. We arrived at heavy rain so driving out to wild camping towards the Pinguin reserve was not an option for the night.
paid 510 pesos for 2 people in a truck camper.

February 8th, 2020 Penguinera Cabo Dos Bahias

Very, very beautiful place. I can’t believe we had it to ourselves on a sunny Saturday, nobody around.
The road here: it had rained heavily all day the day before but stopped in the night.
We drove out at 8:30 am and the first 6 km were very soft and muddy. However after that the road gets better, more gravel and harder surface.

February 6th, 2020 Camping Municipal

Good place to spend the night within easy walking distance to town, right along the ocean. Good wind protection, hot showers, potable water to fill up your water tank. Cheap at 450 pesos for 2 in a truck camper.

February 5th, 2020 Camping Isla Pavon

Expensive at 800 pesos for us today, 2 in a truck camper. However shower is hot and bathroom clean. Enjoyed the location next to the river. There are plenty of sites for Motorhomes, vans or truck campers .
Very quiet at night, there were very few people camping at this huge place.

February 5th, 2020 Parking at Camping Municipal

So here is my 2 cents.
This nice town is trying to make a living and caters to travelers. They have a nice Municipal Campground with hot showers, clean bathrooms for 450 pesos, pending on your exchange rate that is about $6. However people with fancy sprinter vans and nice Motorhomes park in front of the campground.
While we also do a good deal of wild camping, I would feel just a bit shitty doing so in front of a well maintained Municipal Campground.
Too me that leaves a bad taste for Overlanders from the local community.

February 2nd, 2020 Bridge closure

For us today the bridge over river Varola right at the campground was collapsed and they were working on some fixture. Unable to pass.

February 2nd, 2020 Where Rio Alamanza meets the Beagle channel

Great spot like many others un the area. Nice beach access.

February 1st, 2020 YPF Drinking Water from hose and tap

In addition to filling up our water tank for free we took a hot, clean shower at YPG for 40 pesos.

January 31st, 2020 Parque Nacional Tierra Del Fuego // RN3 toll station

Entrance fee is currently 560 pesos pp if you are a foreigner. At this time this is 9.33$ pp. We are happy to pay this fee for free campsites and hiking trails. Just as a comparison Yosemite NP in California costs $35 per car and camping costs are never i clused.

January 31st, 2020 Municipal camping Ushuaia

We did not find this place inviting.
Sorry Ushuaia but you can do better.
We moved on to the NP which actually has inviting campsites for free, of course you need to pay your entrance fee first.

January 30th, 2020 Camping Hain

We enjoyed this place a lot. Roberto is very friendly and helpful. His place is surely unique and described many times.
Don’t come here for the beauty of the bathrooms/shower but the nature.
You sleep to the sound of the waves. When you are at the beach facing the lake walk to the right. At the end of the beach a trail opens and you are actually entering Reserva Laguna Negra. Here you can continue walking another few kilometers on a very beautiful path with lots of interesting postings about the formation of this place, fauna and birds. And best of all, you probably don’t meet a soul.

January 30th, 2020 Reserva Provincial Laguna Negra

Trailhead sendero paisaje en movimiento.
About a 2 hr hike along the lakeshore.
We reached this trailead by walking along the beach from Camping Hain.

January 29th, 2020 Argentina Border Office

Coming from Chile into Argentina, quick and easy. No inspection for our truck camper.

January 29th, 2020 Baños Publicos con Duchas

WOW, thank you Cerro Sombrero!
Indeed the cleanest bathroom and hot shower in South America for free.

January 28th, 2020 Camping Güino

Great campground with all you need. Wifi super fast for us, hot clean showers, nice common room with full kitchen. We had to level the truck camper a bit since campground is on a hillside, but no problem and beautiful views.
Paid 12000 for 2 in a truck camper.

January 26th, 2020 Parque Nacional Torres del Paine – Welcoming Center parking area

Stayed here 2 nights, great bathrooms at the welcome center.

January 24th, 2020 Behind A Hill In The Pampas

Great totally quiet place to spend the night. Strong winds in the evening but they calmed down over night. Beautiful pampa, guanacos and foxes.

January 23rd, 2020 Cabañas Camping Calafate

Great little place to stay with camper van or tent. We have a truck camper and no problems entering but really large Motorhomes will not get through the gate (width). Grassy area, no dust in windy conditions. Great hot shower.
Paid 500 pesos for 2 in a truck camper.
BTW the place is called “Cabañas Camping Calafate”. At the entrance it only read “Cabañas “, therefore it was a little difficult to find.
Very friendly people.

January 21st, 2020 sur gas (US bottle available)

Were able to refill American bottle and our friends European one here today. Hurray😊

January 21st, 2020 autolavado el rayo

Good place. 60 pesos per token. We needed 5 for our truck camper.
Slightly tight turn to enter but ok for our truck (Nissan double cab).
