March 12th, 2020 Madre Bakery Patagonia / German style bread

Newly opened bakery with European/German style (dark and strong) bread. (Not the soft stuff they call bread here otherwise). Located in a gallery (the same that houses the mamuschka shop) just off the main road.
Not cheap (ARS 180 for a 500g DARK bread), but really tasty and you won’t get this type of bread too often in South America. So treat yourself to something nice if you miss your bread from home.
We stumbled on the opening by accident and could taste a few different breads and cakes. All yummi!!!

March 2nd, 2020 Playa Les Frances

A lot of sites but most are in the woods and those close to the lake not really suitable for campervans since access is blocked for cars. There are 2-3 parking sites at the lake that can be used but they are not really level.
No problem accessing the site with our Unimog (3.56m high, 2.30 wide, 7.30 length). The last part of the track is a bit bumpy and high clearance is an advantage but locals get there with normal 2WDs and even camping trailers.

February 24th, 2020 Close to Junction of RN40 and RP56

Small pullout 2 km down RP56 on right hand side (coming from RN40). There is one if these shrines that you see everywhere besides the roads in South America. It‘s a bit more wind protected due to gravel hills than the other place 13 km further down the road.
It‘s on gravel. So, not sure if it’s really suitable for tents.

We stayed 3 nights. Nothing spectacular. A big parking lot with water, electricity, WiFi and the option to empty our toilet (cassette). Appr. 3 km walk to center. Alternatively bus stop nearby or take a collectivi
Victor was very helpful. He organised a guy who came to the site and fixed a hole in our windscreen.

January 19th, 2020 Spring

Clean water from a pipe out of the wall. There is a yellow small hut-like construction where the pipe is. We filled our tank with a 20 l canister. So my husband had to go multiple times. While he was doing this at least 6 locals stopped and filled their 6l bottles and/or 20l garafons.

December 13th, 2019 Beach parking

This place is „semi-legal”. At the visitor information center the ranger told us, that Puerto Pirámides is the only place in the park, where overnight stays are allowed. She said as well, that we don’t have to go to the camping since we’re travelling with a self contained RV and that we could go to the parking. This is the only parking lot we found in the town. There is a sign, that motorhomes and trailers are not allowed. However, police and rangers drove by (and clearly must have seen our rig) and didn’t say anything. This might be different during high season. We stayed 2 nights and except a few motorhomes, the site was empty.

December 10th, 2019 Lavendaria Presto-lav

We stopped there at 11am. When I asked if same day service is possible, the lady said NO but we needed it for our bedsheets. After I started to move away with my 5 loads of dirty laundry she asked when I needed it back. I said that 8pm would be ok and then she agreed to do it. ARS 300 per load.

BTW: I thin then previous entry from klammer.hans refers to a different laundry. The screenshot is not very clear. Therefore I could not identify the exact location but believe it is 1 block North-East. We used the one on Av. Roca.

December 9th, 2019 Camping ACA

The prices seem to change regularly. Unfortunately we haven‘t figured out yet, when high season starts. Some say it is January/Februrary but obviously prices already go up in December.
They asked ARS 1.140 for 2 in a big rig. Wirh German ADAC (automobil club) membership card it was ARS 795. On 2nd December we met a couple who said they paid ARS 450 in a Jeep.

December 6th, 2019 Beach Bliss (Playa Sin)

There is no sign that camping isn‘t allowed. Not sure, where this information is coming from.
Maybe because it is in the Reserva de Biosfera Peninsula Valdes. But his doesn‘t automatically mean that camping is prohibited. The whole Southern beaches of Puerto Madryn are in the Reserva as well and tourist office sent people there for camping. It probably is different on the Península which is a National Park.

I‘ve update the GPS-coordinates to match where you need to turn off from RN25 (we missed the spot on the first try). They might not be 100% correct (my husband didn’t stop at the right location) but pretty close (+\- 3 meters). The entrance isn‘t clearly to see but from there it‘s obvious where you need to go. Good for RVs but (due to gravel) maybe not the best place to pitch a tent (but possible).
Lots of interesting stones/minerals to find, but although some empty ammunition shells and old (burned) tires. Site is big enough to find a clean spot.

November 24th, 2019 Camping El Rustico

New owner Raul took over and re-opened mid November 2019. He speaks English and was very helpfull. He is still working on the site to get everything properly up and running.
We couldn‘t access electricity from all sites (plugs not connected everywhere) and therefore he gave us a cable as extension to ours so we could connect at the house.
Bathrooms were still in „repair“ mode (no shower curtains) but usable.
Washing maschine was standing in the yard but not connected (will probably be thrown out).

Price is now ARS 200 pp/night + ARS 100/night for our motorhome. No free nights for iOverlander users anymore.

November 23rd, 2019 Camping Libre Lago Fonck

November 23rd, 2019 Camping Los Vuriloches

Prices Nov-2019
Camping ARS 550 pp/night

Shower ARS 250
Not sure if cars/motorhomes are charged extra

November 22nd, 2019 Lakeside camp

A nice place for a break. There are signs at the entrance clearly stating, this is a day use area only and camping is not allowed. If you manage to get to the southern end of the site, you might be ok since you are not so visible from the road. We could not drive through with our big rig due to a small hut and low hanging branches of a tree.

November 22nd, 2019 Las Carpitas / La Faustina

Well kept site with cabañas and a few sites for camping in grass. Some sites have easy access to electricity but some might require a long cable.
Not cheap (as everywhere in this area) but at least with nice bathrooms and (supposedly hot) showers. When we were there (pre-season) the bathrooms were not the cleanest but we‘ve seen worse as well. Hopefully better during high season.
Initially the guy told us, it‘s ARS 750 for the two of us. A few minutes later (after we settled in) he came back and said we had to pay an extra ARS 200 for the motorhome. If I understood correctly, they make a difference for travellers with car and tent (no extra charge for car) and motorhomes (extra charge). Doesn’t really make sense to me, since we neither use more space nor do more damage to the grass.
There is a short hiking trail to Laguna Verde but no real access to the lake since the bank is pretty boggy.
All in all I‘d say not worth the money in pre-season.

November 13th, 2019 Lago Traful, Mirador

Police/Ranger stopped by and woke us shortly before 11pm. Said it is not allowed to stay overnight. After some discussion they let us stay until sunrise.
