May 29th, 2019 Walmart

Walmart in Lebanon. We ask if it‘s possible to spend the night here and they said it is okay, we only have to park somewhere in the back of the parkinglot.

This Walmart is open 24/7.

May 20th, 2019 Motel Dollar Inn Hot Springs

Small Motel in Hot Springs. Clean rooms, good shower. 50$ per night for two. Breakfast included.
The campground in the south of the town is 40$, so we preferred this 😊

May 17th, 2019 Free Potable Water

Fresh water, easy access. Perfect! 👍🏾👍🏾

May 16th, 2019 blm road 422A (north of hwy 89a)

Good for a night. Very quiet and no traffic when we were here, even though the spot is directly next to a small gravel road.

May 15th, 2019 Circus Circus Manor RV Park

We have been here for a night. Very good located to visit Las Vegas.
The camping it self is like a big beton desert.
With our T4 Eurovan we parked in one of the small spaces for 22$ a night. Reservations are recommended if you are not willing to pay 44$ for a big RV spot. The price depends on the size of the spot you get.

May 1st, 2019 Tacos El Regreso

Great Taco Restaurant with fair prices.

They had a combo with 6 tacos + 1 softdrink for 76$

April 28th, 2019 Old Well in the Dunes

Okay for a night. Can be windy. Levelled ground.

April 27th, 2019 Pemex 9500

Good and clean showers. We filled our car up, so the driver could take a shower for free. For the other person still 35MXN.

April 26th, 2019 Bahía Salvaje

This is a great place! We stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. Almost no wind and firewood everywhere! No one around, except for a few fisher boats. We could observe some dolphins, swimming close to the coast!
No garbage at all, so please don’t mess it up!
The road is a bit rough, we recommend some high clearance.

April 24th, 2019 Romanita RV Park

Camping still 200mxn + 50mxn for electricity. Friendly, well maintained and clean. The water pressure in the shower is just great!

April 21st, 2019 Conejo Norte

We arrived here in the dark, after we took the ferry to La Paz. Levelled but windy place, located on a stony cliff.
When you drive down here, you’ll cross a privat-sign. In the next morning the owner came to us, and asked for some money.
He said, if we wanted to camp for free, we have to drive behind the next hill to the north.

April 20th, 2019 TMC and Baja Ferry

We crossed with TMC from Mazatlán to La Paz. For a VW T4 Eurovan with two persons we payed 5497mxn.
We coudn‘t stay on the top deck, and the guys from the boat weren‘t willing to discuss with us. They said there is no space at the top deck. At the end there was plenty of space, filled with normal cars.
But at least the food and the weather was good. We were on the old ferry, because it took us 20h to La Paz.

April 10th, 2019 Mecánico Automotriz

The first mechanic, in our 18months trip, we would honestly recommend.
We were here with our VW T4 (Eurovan) and the guys did a good job. I’ve never seen such a clean workshop in Latin America. The prices are more than fair.

April 5th, 2019 Ranchos Los Angeles

We payed 150M$ per person. We didn’t have to pay for electricity, because we just needed it for our fridge. It’s a good spot for a few beach days, you have a lot of shade.

April 3rd, 2019 Cove North of Agua Verde

We spent two nights a the great place. A lot of overlanders and locals are at the „entry“ to the beach. We just followed to beach for around 1km and we were completely alone!
Only down side is there is a lot of trash...

March 23rd, 2019 Camping in front of Hostal Antigueno

The perfect place to stay in Antigua. The owners are very nice and helpful.
Still 100Q for a van with 2 people. This includes a small but good buffet breakfast.
There is also a electric plug you can use for your car, if needed.
Really recommended.

March 22nd, 2019 Chez Christophe

We had here our first and really good fondue on our 18 months trip!
Christophe is from Lausanne and a nice guy. We honestly recommend this place, if your looking for some good, classic swiss food.

March 21st, 2019 Parqueo El Amigo

Perfect place to leave the car while hiking on the volcano. Still 25Q car/day.

March 21st, 2019 Start of the hike to Atatenango Volcano sommit

The view at the end is definitely worth the hike and the pain after 😁
We startet at 23:30 and arrived at 5.30, short before sunrise, but we were slow, and wished we had some more time in darkness at the top to see the lava.
We did the tour without a guide, which is in our opinion not necessary, because on maps.me you have all the tracks, which you can’t really loose. Make sure you are prepared for the cold and wind on the summit, we had -6°C on the top. Also the high altitude close to 4000m is not to underestimate.

March 20th, 2019 El vagamundo camping antigua

We were their first guests ever. It’s still a construction site, but give them another 2-3 weeks and it will be pretty cool! Hot showers, toilets, wifi, onsite restaurant, super friendly people! It’s 100Q for two people in a car.
There will also be some rooms you can rent built in old schoolbuses or an old helicopter, it looks pretty cool!
Recommended!

March 18th, 2019 El Vendaval

Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. We ate some dinner there and asked if we could stay there for the night.
During the night a bit noisy because of all the trucks. There was also a security guy, walking around with a shotgun.

March 18th, 2019 Multiservicio Superspeed

We had some problems with our motor generator, and got it fixed here. Good job.

You can also do alineación, cambio de aceite & some other stuff, nice guys, recommended!

March 17th, 2019 Roli's Place

Great place to stay! Roli and his wife are very welcoming. I can’t understand all the bad reviews.
Shower and toilets are good. Fast Wifi, even in the car. We paid 160lrp for 2 per night.
They have (at the moment) a baby Rottweiler, which you’ll love. Be aware of the pair of geese, they are better than every guard dog 😂

March 11th, 2019 Finca Cañas Castilla

All the positive stuff said before is true, very recommended! Perfect spot for before or after the border.

March 10th, 2019 Swiss Palmgarden

Nice and quiet location. You park on a big grassy area, with some palms. Shower and toilets are very clean. You can use the nice and fresh indoor pool❄️! With 25US$ per car for one night and 20US$ per night for 2 or more nights, it’s rather expensive.

March 9th, 2019 Gasolinera La Palma Chacarita

We arrived here late after the boarder, fine for a night. Open 24h, toilet, free cold shower.

March 9th, 2019 Mechanic behind gas station

We made an oil change and we switched the front and back tires here for a good price. The guy works really well and is very friendly! Recommended!

March 8th, 2019 EXIT / ENTER COSTA RICA ,Paso Canoas

FROM PANAMA TO COSTA RICA:

The Costa Rica side isn‘t as clear as Panama, but it is easy as well.
After migration you have to make a insurance for your car at Seguros Nacional. Minimum is 90days and costs 44USD.
With the insurance you go to the aduana, which is next to Seguros Nacional, to fill some forms. You will need some copies of your passports (all drivers) and car-documents, which you can make across the street. After that they check the car and that‘s it.

The entire boarder crossing took us 1.5h, we were lucky there weren’t many people around.

March 8th, 2019 ENTER PANAMA, PASO CANOAS

FROM PANAMA TO COSTA RICA:

Really easy border crossing. All very clear and close together. Your will be searched when leaving Panama.
We did it at 15:00h and took us with the Costa Rica side 1.5h.

March 8th, 2019 Raquel’s Ark

Great place to see rescued wild animals from very close. Raquel loves her animals and looks after them like they are her children. No entrance fee, but please donate something to help her, she doesn’t get any money from the government. You can play with baby monkeys and you can see a jaguar from very close. Very recommended!
She said to us that she also welcomes overlanders, you can stay in the car at front, and use the bathroom for tourists.
