First carrefour coming from Brazil. Ah real baguettes

October 18th, 2019 Wildcamp N2 near St. Georges

You can really get badly stuck here in mud. Didn’t like the spot either.

October 17th, 2019 Edge of forest

Here or a 700 meter south ypu can get of the road onto a side road About n the middle another track goes east. These tracks are not used so ver quiet. And it felt saf. Birds wake you up in the morning.

October 12th, 2019 Porto Leão

This was my first choice and was quoted 500 + 150 for my 6 meter camper and me, but.........In this week before the second sunday in October there are no ships sailing to Macapa at all. They are all used for the big happening Cirio de Nazare. My first ferry here would sail on the next Friday which was 9 days of waiting. They pointed me to Porto Lider which had their first boat on Monday. 50% more but 5 days of Belem was more than enough for me.

October 11th, 2019 Porto Lider

Booked here to get to Macapa. Payed 800 for my large LandCruiser and 170 as passenger. In Santana port paid another 50. Never asked but sneaked into my camper to sleep. If fully booked the hammock space is very tight. Good ship, very well maintained. Good food for 15 reais. Stayed in porto Lider for three days waiting for the ferry. Free.

October 10th, 2019 Portal da Amazonia - riverfront park

Stayed here two nights. Nice place and if not warned I would have stayed further away. Around the police post may be safer but it was quite noise parts of the night, maybe because of the week of Cirio de Nazare. Try to avoid Belem at this week unless you really want to see it. I missed it because you can’t move in the city, there are 2 million visitors. I had to wait for 5 days for the ferry to Macapa.

October 9th, 2019 Posto Marajó Grande

Good facilities but a lot of noise from all the trucks. I parked on the left side next to the little moden church and used earplugs.

October 7th, 2019 Pousada Troplcal

They let me sleep here. Had a fish dish which was okay but overpriced.

October 7th, 2019 Public Parking lot

Pleasant place to stay. Lots of food stalls in the evening. Sunday evening very busy, but after 2200 h could get on my spot and everything quieted down. Felt very safe. There are clean toilets in the building with the blue doors and I found a water tap on the parking lot, towards same building.

October 5th, 2019 Next to Bambae

After a terrible night at Gavoitas nearby, I slept here after having eaten a very good pizza ( I couldn’t finish a medium size) very good spot to camp. After last guests left there total quietness. Just what I needed. Nobody cared
I was there. Have asked guard before if it was safe, and he said it was.

October 4th, 2019 Pousada Solar das Gaivotas

The place is nice, warm welcome, nice pool, huge breakfast included if you want. But....I had a terrible night here, because right under my open window two roosters started calling at 2 AM, and at 3AM, and 4.... I did take a tour to the lagoons for 80 reals which was worth it. In october still plenty of water. You share the place with 200 others though. The following night slept at the restaurant nearby.

September 29th, 2019 Before last kiteplace

Drove to the other place east of here but at high tide the track was submerged. It didn’t get better so I turned around and came here. It’s nothing special but it got dark so didn’t mind. Very quiet.

September 27th, 2019 Praia Tabuba

Came to this place and asked a local. He told me to move one block west. So I did and that place looked better and safer being next to a large beach resort. I was woken up 2 AM by the police, who told me it was perigoso to camp here. Talking to me he had his gun in his hand, not pointing at me, but still. Then they said it was tranquilo because they were gonna sleep their night shift in their car 50 meters from me. From this experience and talking to another local, only west of Cambuco is safe to wild camp, Cambuco and east is too close to Fortaleza.

September 26th, 2019 Camping Pousada Vila Láctea

Pleasant garden campsite with swimming pool. Paid 30 R pppn.

September 25th, 2019 Pataxós - Lago Pataxós

Very good stop in between Natal and Fortaleza. After days of pounding waves and high winds on the coast the silence of this place is lovely.

September 25th, 2019 El Argentino

We had a very nice steak here. The even ask you how you want it done.

September 24th, 2019 On the cliff

Good spot on the seashire. Some traffic passes by in the evening but nine at night. Exposed also to wind. Maybe not suitable fot rooftop tent.

September 23rd, 2019 Beach parking

Good level perking with sea and beach view. Normally quiet but on saturday the hotel opposite the road had a party. We moved a couple of hundred meters that night. There is a outside shower and we used the toilet of the hotel. Hotel also gave WiFi password which reached the parking.

September 23rd, 2019 Baía bar restaurante

Generally good food for reasonable price, but like in many places in Brazil they overcook the fish. It came right from a fisherman but they managed to serve it too well done and dry. Next day I bought a fish straight from the harbor and cooked it myself. Much better.

September 20th, 2019 Car ferry

Here you can get on a ferry to the other side. There are two signs with telephone numbers. The ferry must be ordered with one of them. Somebody helps us and called. Don’t know which number. We paid 30 R for our LandCruiser and us.

September 20th, 2019 Praia Barra di Camarajibe- wild camp

Very nice spot and the end of a long lane. Totally quiet and we felt safe.

September 18th, 2019 Camping Praia Grande

The place looked closed with rocks blocking the entrance but then the owner came and welcomed us. It looked like nobody camped here for a long time, everything run down. But we stayed because of the friendly owner. He started cleaning and really did his best. Even drove me into town to get some fresh shrimps.

September 16th, 2019 Massarandupio 2

We were disappointed by the other place so we drove on a couple of 100 meters. Here you are much closer to the sea and still have a wind breaker dune. The is a tricky bit on the way with a palm tree slightly haniging over the path and water on the other side.

September 15th, 2019 Ferry Terminal Parking

On a sunday we paid 89 R for our LandCruiser camper. Just a short wait, as we got on the ferry that just arrived.

September 15th, 2019 Commercial car park

Closed on a sunday...........................

September 15th, 2019 Ipiranga gaz station

We parked opposite the lavanderia. Ate in the restaurant across. Pretty good food. After taking fuel the attendant pointed us the showers which we could use for free, even gave us free coffee and refused money for it. Such kind people.

September 15th, 2019 Ondina Beach

This place is under construction now, so no way to camp here now. Do not know when it’s finished.

September 14th, 2019 Mangueiras Camping

Totally in the wrong place, this one can be deleted or relocated

September 12th, 2019 Chapada Diamantina NP, between Lençois and Andarai

We really enjoyed this 4x4 road. With our 6 meter LandCruiser it was a chalenge now and then. Take at least 3 hours, likely more to get to the main road.

September 10th, 2019 Shell Posto

Large service station. Many trucks so we used earplugs. We parked right behind the building where trucks can’t pass to get the least noise. Fast wifi. Cold showers but not too cold.
