Parking lot in front of Stawamus Chief Provincial Park

Park at the parking lot in front of the canpground, a lot of people (mostly rock climbers) stay there in their vans, pit toilet and water

Blackwood Campground

Free Campground with 6 sites for tents with picnic table, bear lock and fire ring, car can be parked next to the site, we slept in the car though, toilet available, water can be filled up at the Kaspian Campground which is at the beginning of the road to Blackwood Campground

El Palmar de Chacala

great spot under big palm trees and just behind the beach, 150p/night, safe, guards at night

ibis Hotel

we stayed one night in a double room, the location of the hotel is good, because you don't have to drive into town (streets are very busy in the late afternoon), secure parking for vehicles up to 2.40m, price $800

Restaurant Buena Vista

nice spot just behind the beach, friendly owner family, we had lunch there for $250 and could stay for free


We drove from Agua Azul to San Cristobal de las Casas (~3.5h) with our VW Campervan, didn't run into any blockades even though the tour information in Palenque said there are two (P200 each), go early in the morning (we started at 6.15am)

Cascadas Agua Azul

stayed there for the night after visiting the cascadas, quiet at night, safe

Camping Michol

it's not a great place, but cheap and okey for one night (P30/person), close to the ruines

Aduana - South Mexico

big aduana, short check of car papers and had a look into the car. Asked for wine and liquor. Friendly, took us just 3 minutes

Kin Ha Ecovillas

plenty of space, just drive on the upper grassy field there it is much more quiet

Xpu-Ha Campground Mundo Chalio

its expensive $300, but nice beach and quiet at night, wifi from the cabañas .

Santa Fe

great spot on white sand (don't worry, its easy to drive on), bathrooms are basic, wonderful beach and not that crowded

Mariposa Restaurant and Beach Suites

great location, wonderful beach, good restaurant, nice owners

Mana Kai

good place to stay when you go to the ATM caves, the location is average, power expensive (but we didnt know, therefore we got it for half price)

Chaltunha Hostel

beautiful spot, there is a lot of space for overlanders (at least 4 pick up campers will fit), great view, nice owner, boat to Flores for 50Q/p, the gravel road to the hostel is average but easy to drive

Linda Vista

beautiful lake with crystal clear water, camping facilities are average, Q25/p

nice finca, 80Q/2 people

100 Lempiras/ night, close to ruinas de copan and only 5 min walk from the town centre with a lot of nice restaurants (I recommend "viavia's")

D&D Brewery

we stayed in the new grassy area, park close to the small house to plug in, was nosy in the night (cars passing, and dogs barking)

Hotel Frontera

we stayed a night in a double room for $34, swimming pool, bar, good place before crossing the border to Honduras, we couldn't find a place in town where we could sleep in the van, secure parking

Finca Esperanza Verde

great place, quiet, free coffee and tea, $10/night, breakfast $10, lunch $12, dinner $12

Ulab Yasica

the gate was closed when we arrived at 4.30pm and after a while to woman appeared, they said we could not stay even though there was only one car in the parking area, was weared

Hotel Fountain Blue

we stayed in the hotel for $20 for two people, guarded parking lot

Paradiso Hostel

great hostel, parking area can be busy, we were 4 small vans and then it was full, $16/night for two people, free coffe, free kayak

Hostel at Sun Kite School

We could park at the Hostel where the Sun Kite Surf School is located (i don't remember the name of the Hostel), toilet and showers are clean, close to the beach, $6/night
