February 5th, 2020 Restaurant Melany

We stopped here and stayed one night. The room (no heater or air conditioner)was clean and the restaurant (open 24 hrs) has decent food. We paid $20.00 USD for 2 people. This is a truck stop, but did not hear the truckers. Felt safe all night. I would highly recommend this place.

February 4th, 2020 Mary's restaurant in Punta Prieta

We drove by and it is still there. There were multiple gas containers sitting in the driveway. Can be easily seen from the road.

February 4th, 2020 Antonio's Ecotours

Antonio's ecotour was exceptional. Paula and Fernando were very good hosts. Paula spoke good English. David our tour guide spoke good English and was very informative about the whales. We saw many whales including a momma and baby. The cost was $55 USD per person to see the whales. The cost to camp is $10 USD per person. The fish dinner was cooked well and cost $10. This includes a beer. Overall I would highly recommend them.

February 3rd, 2020 Mago's Coffee and Sweets + Wi-Fi

Mago's Bakery has very good baked goods and breakfasts. Wifi is decent.

February 1st, 2020 Carretera San Isidro

Spent 1 night here. Very quiet all night. Plenty of space to camp. The dirt road passable from La Purisima high clearance 2 wheel drive.

January 31st, 2020 Scorpion Bay Paved Road

Paved road all the way to Scorpion Bay begins here. Nice road all the way.

January 30th, 2020 Scorpion Bay

Stayed here for one night. Nice view and the cost was 150p per person per night. If you want a hot shower, then it is an extra 50p.

January 30th, 2020 Agua Purificada Vida

Good place to get purified water. Off the main street and plenty of parking.

January 25th, 2020 Punta la Tinaja, BCS.

Nice beach to camp. When we arrived there was a surf contest going on. Saw humpback whales from the shore..quite magical.

January 24th, 2020 Lavanderia Rubi

A good place to wash your clothes. Part of the laundromat is used by the ladies to wash clothes for their customers. We were told that we could use 2 washers and 1 dryer. OK for us since we only had 2 loads. We were charged 30p to wash each load and 45p to dry each load. Very friendly ladies.

January 24th, 2020 El Chorro

Nice campground with pit toilets. It was very quiet but we were not here over the weekend when it can be busy. We paid 66p each to camp and visit the hot springs. We did not go in but others said the water was cooler than expected. Dirt road to get here but would recommend it.

January 24th, 2020 Chino car wash

A good place to get your car washed. Friendly staff and they know limited English. Cost 120p

January 23rd, 2020 Los Frailes

Road from Los Frailes heading back north to Los Barriles. Not too bad

January 22nd, 2020 Los Arbolitos

Very nice place to camp. We camped here for 2 nights hoping the wind would quit for us to snorkel. It never did so cannot comment on the snorkeling. We did take the hike along the beach (south) and it was very beautiful. There are flush toilets but the water ran out midday and the toilets would not flush. The cost was 120p for the two of us and we felt very safe.

January 20th, 2020 El Sargento Campground

When we arrived there were a few spots open. We camped near the fence alongside the road. It was a bit noisy at night. The people are super friendly. We paid 150p per night.

January 19th, 2020 Rancho Verde RV Haven

Super quiet place to stay. We were the only campers on a Saturday night. We had planned to stay at Tecolote beach, but it was too windy. There are 2 bathrooms with a shower in each. The water is nice and hot with good pressure. Each campsite has water and the area is very clean. We paid 150p for 1 night.

January 18th, 2020 Chevron

Very nice bathrooms. Would stop here again.

January 16th, 2020 Campestre Maranatha

Stayed here one night and paid 200mxp. We camped in the front area near the bathrooms and discovered that the road was quite noisy. Used earplugs and had a good night. The bathrooms are amazing.. clean and HOT showers. The entire campground was very clean. Good security here. The front office had closed circuit TV so they can keep an eye on the place. Highly recommend this RV park.

January 16th, 2020 Perla Hotel

The hotel is located in the center of the malecon. Wifi is very fast. The cost for 2 people per night is 60p and that includes: coffee, orange juice and toast in their restaurant located adjacent to the hotel. Nice place to take a break from camping and experience the nightlife of La Paz.

January 15th, 2020 Ciudad Constitucion

Drove through this town and did see the stop (alto) signs almost at every corner. We ALWAYS make complete stops no matter what town. Some locals just drove through the alto signs but saw no police presence. We just drive slowly so we can spot the alto signs and topes (speed bumps).

January 15th, 2020 La Pila Balneario & Trailer Park

Nice place to stay. The man taking the money said that there were hot showers, but one of us had a hot shower but the water ran cold after that. Bathrooms are very nice. The wifi is quite decent. Overall quiet and I would recommend it. Oh, there is a pool but did not use it.

January 14th, 2020 Agua Verde

Very small puebla with 2 restaurants and 1 small store. Very pleasant place to stay. Two wheel drive with high clearance recommended.

January 12th, 2020 Rivera del Mar RV Park and Camping

Nice place to stay for a couple nights. The showers were hot and good pressure. There are 2 bathrooms with a shower and toilet and 2 more showers that did not contain toilets. We decided to get electricity for the night. Would recommend this place.

January 10th, 2020 Los Coyotes (Bahia de Concepcion)

Very beautiful beach on Bahia Concepcion. We stayed for 3 nights and paid 200 pesos per night. Did not pay all at once so we don't know about a different rate if you pay up front. Apparently Los Coyotes and Cocos beaches are run by the same concessionaire. A long term resident told me that a percentage of the fees are given to the government. We felt very safe at this location.

January 7th, 2020 Hacienda La Habana

This is the most amazing place! We camped on grass...enjoyed the oranges and grapefruits. It is a bit out of town but wanted some quiet destination for a couple of nights. All the reports are true!

January 5th, 2020 Camping Petates

Nice location along the lagoon. We stayed 2 nights and had the opportunity to meet Janice and Greg. They are Canadians and help out Manuel (owner) while they camp here. The place was super clean. The bathrooms were fine. Just need to dump a pail of water in afterwards. The showers are gravity fed and do trickle. Manuel will heat the water for you. Can only take one shower at a time. There are 2 showers but once the water is running in one the other one doesn't work. I would recommend this place. Quiet during the day and the limited noise from the road did not bother us. 180 pesos per night

January 4th, 2020 Cueva del Raton

Correction... we saw SUVs and not sedans traveling in the road.

January 4th, 2020 Cueva del Raton

The road to Cueva del Raton has been improved. The rocky road mentioned in previous posts have been covered with dirt. We saw many sedans that made it to the cave. Fantastic artwork!

January 4th, 2020 Malarrimo RV Park

Arrived before sundown and found a spot behind the restaurant. We paid 210 pesos for our Jeep with a rooftop tent. The 185 pesos price is for tenting if you are riding a bike or motorcycle. If you like quiet nights this is not the place. Somewhat noisy but slept ok. Cold showers but the pressure was good. Just stayed one night.

January 3rd, 2020 Mision San Borja

Very interesting. The mission is quite different than missions in California. We drove a Jeep from Mex 12.Quite rocky road.
