October 6th, 2018 Cafe Casita De Amor

Good smoothies (ask for no straw!), fresh coffee, friendly house cat, too. Meals were satisfactory, no WiFi.

October 6th, 2018 Surf & Turf Restaurant

Nice little bar restaurant that accepts visa payment (one of the only ones we could find). Ceviche, salpicon, burgers. Has wifi as well.

October 6th, 2018 Cafe Casita De Amor

Sweet little spot, good smoothies (ask for no straw!), fresh brewed coffee, an adorably friendly cat, and our meals were really satisfactory.

October 5th, 2018 Ds Hostel Backpacker

D was super hospitable and the accommodations were great. Dogs barking a bit in the night but nothing too bad. Would stay here again. You can do your laundry too!

September 21st, 2018 El Arbol

Great and healthy food, WiFi, hours are 6 am to 9 pm, not the same as what was mentioned before! Only complaint is they were out of red wine (not a real complaint, I got a little excited though)! 😩

September 21st, 2018 Agua Purificada

Fast service, nice family. They have a hose, too, for filling tanks that done need purified water necessarily.

September 3rd, 2018 Parqueo Los Ranchos

Barking. All. Night. Long. And not off in the distance, but in the same yard or the one next door. Also charged us 25 q more than was listed on here, even though it’s the rainy season.

August 26th, 2018 Cascadas El Aguacero

This place is wonderful. We camped one night, arriving around 4:30 so with enough time to hoof it down to the falls. Bring water proof shoes so that you can explore the water falls a little more. Also, I don’t see anything from previous posters about this but maybe it’s a new development since the earthquake, but we realized that we were crawling all over petrified wood when we made it down to the water fall. It’s amazing, plan to read up more on it. Absolutely worth the price, I don’t know how it looked pre earthquake but the people saying it’s not worth it because it’s damaged don’t know what they’re talking about. Our first stop in Chiapas and, like others have said, it’s going to be hard to beat.

August 25th, 2018 Hotel Palmas

Humble little room for two people for 300mxp. Great secure parking, WiFi, and relatively clean. We get the idea that it’s sort of a don’t ask don’t tell motel. We didn’t get a receipt and we got a lot of weird looks going in there. The bed was fine, on its last leg as you could feel almost all of the springs. And the water in the drains were pretty pungent. The woman who “checked us in” sprayed a bunch of bug killer and turned on the AC when she showed us the room, which as I was already sick I wasn’t too keen on inhaling that as well, but didn’t say anything.
Overall, 300mxp for a place out of the heat with WiFi and a shower and functioning toilet isn’t bad. The taco place next door was pretty great, too. It wouldn’t be my first choice again but it wasn’t the worst place to get over a cold.

August 23rd, 2018 Playa San Diego (Surf spot)

This place was. a. DREAM. We stayed two nights. The road in was a bit crazy and longer than we had hoped, but so worth it. We were able to wake up the first morning and surf without many folks out and about, and that evening we were the only ones out as it was a bit choppy. We parked right under the big palapa. This isn’t an abandoned village, the closest village uses it once or twice a year for a big camp out, party. Lots of trash everywhere around the paladas and the bathrooms are something left to be desired. A sweet female dog hung out with us both nights and during the day. She didn’t like us to get too close, but we could tell she was getting more comfortable with us. I actually was puking the second night (don’t know why) and she came over to sleep by me in the hammock, and even scared off a different dog that she felt was getting a little too close. I so wanted to take her with us, but she wasn’t quite comfortable with us to let us get that close by the time we were leaving, and I was so sick I couldn’t stay any longer. If you find her and she warms up to you, please consider giving her a home! She seems like she could be such a good dog and just needs some care and love. It broke my heart to say goodbye to her, and that’s the first time that’s happened on our trip (3 1/2 months now). Email me if you find her. Thanks and enjoy the beauty of this spot!

July 19th, 2018 La Negra Cervecería

Sweet little spot with great cocktails, friendly staff, awesome food, and they let you charge whatever you need while you sit and enjoy your time.

July 12th, 2018 Oasis restaurant

What the hell, sweetest people ever and they set us up a shower. The sweetest and they don’t even want extra even though we are obviously going to help in some way. Money or buying more beer and margaritas.

June 21st, 2018 Hotel Hacienda Bugambilas

Really cozy, clean, quiet hotel with beautiful murals and a nice pool. It’s 4 blocks from the malecón and the staff are very friendly. For some reason they don’t have security every night but on the night they didn’t, they had us park our truck up by their office window. We stayed 2 nights.

June 21st, 2018 Super tacos hnos Gonzalez

Delicious fish tacos, best we’ve had yet (in Baja)!

June 21st, 2018 Monygas

Not entirely sure that they fill tanks here but the owner fashioned us an adapter for a larger/refillable propane tank so that we don’t have to keep buying small Coleman ones that you can’t refill anywhere here. Solid dood, everything cost us about $60 including 4 kilo tank with propane, hose, and parts.

June 21st, 2018 Esperanza’s- RAMEN!!!!!

Ramen place, only one type of ramen but kind of nice to get something besides Mexican food every once in a while. If you don’t like it then the taco cart up the street (Hermanos Gonzalez) is also bomb. Also, the Jamaica tea here is very nice.

June 21st, 2018 Sorstis Restaurante Mediterránea

Delicious Mediterranean food, lovely patio with a fountain, classy hip, reasonable prices even! Their Mediterranean salad was delicious and refreshing.

June 20th, 2018 Café Big Sur

Great coffee and good WiFi, also a really sweet marine life aesthetic!

June 16th, 2018 Playa El Requeson

For 150 pesos a night for a palapa, even during the off season, there was trash everywhere. Not many palapas to begin with, we tried the one furthest from the others but the smell of the toilet was intense on the downwind. The other palapas are near the trash and recycling which wasn’t an issue until this morning when there was no wind and the smell wafted towards our truck.

Overall it was probably the dirtiest campground we’ve been to in Baja and not worth the 150 pesos.

June 15th, 2018 Playa Ecomundo

The “town” is only in season from October to May, so no rentals there through the rest of the year. Water really clear, my sweetie only saw one sting ray in the hour he was out there but stay careful. Very quiet, just fish jumping into the night and the island of seagulls going nuts during sunset.

I think the sand fleas are attacking us but I’m reading that only bite in the fall? Who knows.

June 12th, 2018 Punta Prieta

The road is as described and fine for our 2WD. If you can, park further down the beach, as we were woken up really early by cars driving down with fishermen/clam diggers coming down before sunrise or around that time.

Met a nice local man named Luis who invited us to his house for ceviche, warned us about the coming Hurricane Bud, it weakened by the time it got to us but he let us camp on his property in higher ground for two nights.

June 7th, 2018 Almar tienda de Buceo / dive shop

Dive shop! Ricardo (the owner) speaks English and he doesn’t mess around with trying to sell you the most expensive item. He loves diving and his gear is reasonably priced.

June 6th, 2018 Cristobal Mechanic

Reliable mechanic with lots of knowledge of 4x4s and vehicles. He gave us a fair price for our shock absorbers, but he didn’t have an updated exchange rate. Currently 1 peso is 5 cents USD, but he thinks it’s 18 cents usd. Still a really great deal so we dropped it. He also has stickers.

June 5th, 2018 Campo Mona Lisa

A pretty and desolate place by the beach. I don’t know if it’s $25 USD worth since we can’t fill our water can with salt water that comes out of the taps (might be a recent piping problem), but we made the mistake of filling our can last night and having salty coffee this morning. On the flip side, this place was posted as having showers but only cold, so I was pleasantly surprised to hop into a warm (albeit salty) shower this morning after a cold evening and morning. Olivia and her family are also very nice, but maybe the water they offer is actually pumped from somewhere else? Don’t fill at the individual ones that are at each campsite.

June 5th, 2018 Cafe Tomás

Cute cafe with good food and WiFi, comfortable seating inside and out

June 4th, 2018 Campo Mona Lisa

June 3rd, 2018 Armando's place

Armando and his family are very courteous, and we felt like our vehicle was more than secure for us to go exploring and spend the night. Beware if you’re here on the weekend though, as the parties on the beach go late! We kept waking up to music and yelling and car alarms until 4 am probably. Armando let us fill our water can as well as part of our payment.

June 3rd, 2018 El Gaucho Argentino

Great restaurant with outdoor seating, authentic Argentinian bbq. The owner speaks English and is very friendly.

May 24th, 2018 Salinas River State Beach "Potrero Lot" Road

Quiet place, lots of space along the road, and the sound of the waves crashing a ways away makes this one of my favorite spots we’ve found on here so far.
The cops circled the lot a bit before we went to sleep, but no idea if they talked to anyone.
