May 4th, 2019 Blue Banana

Good spot for free, quite and safe.
No facilities. Just next to Hotel Juayua.
Perfect for a night and to discover town without having to worry for your vehicle.

May 4th, 2019 Occalli CAFE

Perfect place to take a wonderful coffee from experts (!) or a local beer (I took a frozen Chai- and it was AMAZING). They make Tostadas (see photo) and desserts as well. Enjoy!

May 4th, 2019 Tropigas

We have an US fix-tank. Refill done in 10 mins. $2/ gallon. Quick and easy. Very recommended!

May 4th, 2019 Laguna de Alegria

WOW! Salvador‘s hidden gem!
Prices still the same.
We were all by ourselves, made a bonfire, enjoyed the silence, the fresh air, and felt very safe!

May 4th, 2019 Restaurante El Faro Del Lago

Very unfriendly and rude staff.
Had awfully loud music, so we asked if they could lower it a bit. The only thing they did was laughing behind our backs, and when we left they shouted „a la mierda“.
Would not recommend at all. Don’t come all this way to be treated like this for free.

May 2nd, 2019 Adela's Restaurant and Campsite

Our experience at Adela‘s place:
- great and cheap food
- Adela is very friendly and helpful
- dirty amenities: WC had no paper and the bin was never emptied in the 3 days we were staying there. Shower, floors, etc. very filthy ...!)
- dirty swimming pool
- Wifi quite slow

Would recommend for one night but not more.

April 23rd, 2019 Hotel Heroes, "La pequeña Helvecia"

Silena and Franz are our new heroes! So very friendly and welcoming!

We could stay for free (yes, really!!) and use all amenities (WC, swimming pool, Wifi, cold shower, parking).
We enjoyed their property so much! Not only does it look and feel exactly like Switzerland (we’re Swiss), but there was also so much to discover around. We saw Toucans and Coatis and enjoyed the little hike up along the train trails with a marvellous view!

To show them our gratitude, we ate at the restaurant several times. Don’t miss the excellent “mousse au chocolat” and the incredible “apple pie”.

April 19th, 2019 Playa Bandera Beach Front

Good place to stay a few days under the shade of the palm trees or in the sun (if you need it for your solar panels).

Quite busy with locals (easter holidays), rough sea with big waves, and windy throughout the day (finally a bit of air in this very hot and humid country!!).

Shower and toilet for 1000 Colones pP/ day (red house).

No Wifi available anymore...

April 10th, 2019 STICKERS PRINT

For 200 Stickers (7cmx7cm) in BEST quality we paid 76 USD (including taxes).
They do it for the next day. Very professional and recommendable!

March 20th, 2019 La Rayuela camping

La Rayuela is a place to stay 1-2 days, but not recommended for a longer stay.
- 10‘000 COP/pP

- fast WiFi
- we could give our car a quick wash (free)
- wash laundry (free)
- friendly people, will offer you „tinto“ (coffee) every morning

- kitchen (but neither good stuff to cook and there was nothing to wash dishes! - we used only our things)
- they‘re constructing, so lots of dust and noise
- toilets, shower and kitchen quite filthy
-Employees do not really care about guests. They begin making noise from 06:30am.

March 13th, 2019 Finca Hostal Bolivar

Finca Hostal Bolivar is a swiss-owned Campground / Hostel. We were planning to stay one night and stayed 5 in the end. That says everything.

It is well organised; kitchen, bathroom, and shared areas within the hostel, are cleaned daily.

Best spot to be in Minca, that’s for sure.

- the price is now 20‘000 COP/ person.
- laundry service 8‘000 COP/ kg.

Definitely a must.

March 4th, 2019 LAVADO - Refill water tank!

Couldn’t find any place to refill our water tank. Tried here at the “lavado” and could refill our fix water tank (~250liters) for 2’000 COP.
Clean water with good pressure.

(they offer to wash your vehicle for 20’000COP)

March 4th, 2019 Marakarita Bed & Breakfast

We LOVED this place. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We parked directly at the beach, had Wifi, could use (very clean) shower and bathroom, and plugged in our van (you chan choose between 220V or 110V).

10’000 COP pP. Worth every penny.

Margarita is helpful in every way and makes incredibly good Pizzas! Try the one with seafood 🦞🍤

Totally recommended!!

February 28th, 2019 La Consentida

Wanted 17’000 COP/pP, we told him about iOverlander and that it was 15’000 COP. He agreed.

Possible to have electricity for your car.

Showers and bathrooms weren’t that clean... Decided to leave the next day.

Good for one night, but nothing special.

February 27th, 2019 al lado del rio

Do NOT COME here! Army is vigilating this area, since armed groups (guerillas - ELN) threatened to bomb the bridge! They told us to avoid the entirety of the region “El tigre” because of terroristic activities.

February 26th, 2019 Al Bosque Hostel & Glamping

Now at 17’000COP/pP.

Very nice and organised place, friendly staff.

- washing machine 10‘000COP/load
- beers, soft drinks, and snacks
- little gym to work out
- kitchen
- hot showers
- clean bathrooms
- good WiFi
- electricity
- fire place

Recommendable, even if a bit pricey.

February 22nd, 2019 Jungle Magic

Indeed great spot just at the river Caldera.
In the middle of the jungle and one of the nicest wild camping spots we had in a while!

Could observe loads of colourful birds, swim in the crystal clear water (afternoon), jump from the old bridge (care for water depth) and take a sunbathe on the sandy beach.
Very recommendable!

February 20th, 2019 Bad road from San Luis to Guatapé

Up to San Luis good road. Leaving San Luis the road is VERY bumpy; a lot of big stones on an uneven gravel road. Count with 1.5 hours for 20km.
High clearance recommended.

February 20th, 2019 Minimercado M&F

Here in San Luis you can buy your groceries (fruits, vegetables, pasta, rice, water, beer, ...) in little shops before heading to Guatapé.
The way up to here is good.

February 9th, 2019 Craft Beer

VERY disappointing. Expected great beer, but everything tasted like soap.
Walk further!

February 7th, 2019 BioMax

Driving from the NP Puracé in direction of Plata, this is the only gasoline/diesel station.

February 1st, 2019 Mario Mechanics

❗️Careful ❗️
We asked Mario for help regarding our brakes and an electrical issue. We went to two different workshops with him and their work seemed to be ok. Total price US$450.

After only 800km we had to have the whole breaks redone and the electrical issue appeared again. So not really happy about the outcome...

Mario was really kind and helpful, but perhaps they did bad work because they didn’t know our type of vehicle (Dodge Ram).
Sadly, we can’t recommend it!

January 28th, 2019 Piedra Cantuña

Almuerzos (juice, soup, main course, desert) for $3. EXCELLENT 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Owner very friendly.

January 26th, 2019 Eni Gas

Since Bolivia we couldn’t find any spot that was willing to refill our fix tank. So we are more than happy!!

Just conductor could enter (wearing long pants, shoes and a security helmet).

Filling took 10mins.

Do not show up between 11am-2pm, they are taking a break.

Open on Saturday!

Paid $16 for 16kg.

January 25th, 2019 Police check

Police stopped us to check our car for drugs, armes or any other illegal things.
Came in the vehicle and opened every closet.

January 17th, 2019 Aroma y Sabor de Mercedes

Indeed incredible tasty, freshly prepared Empanadas of an wonderful owner, Mercedes!!

January 14th, 2019 Crater Rimp

Stayed two nights at the most PERFECT spot at Laguna Quilotoa. Best view of the crater lake directly from your vehicle and hidden from town.
Owner of this flat parking spot asked us a little contribution of $3 (for the length of our entire stay).
Sun rises at 06h30, be sure to not miss it.
You can enjoy a cloud free view in the mornings, in the afternoons it covers.

We walked down to the laguna (45min) and came up again (1h).

January 11th, 2019 PRIMAX Gas Station

New gas station.

- internet (open Wifi)
- refill water
- shop open till 10pm (Mini Market)
- WC
- showers

Very, very lovely owner at the shop. She was very interested to know about us and even offered us some eggs from here chickens.

January 8th, 2019 Swiss Wassi Zorritos

Incredible place to stay. We loved it so much we stayed a whole week. Why?
- the sunsets, and the parking spot under the palm trees
- the hospitality of Melba and Jacques
- the little store they have (including ice creams and beers)
- the fast Internet
- the surf lessons Jacques recommended us
- the washing machine (one load S./ 6)
- the “menu del día” or breakfast ; freshly prepared food every day (S./ 15) if you are lazy to cook.
- the clean toilets & hot showers
- much more!!

Some people found it a bit expensive, went to the other place on iOverlander, and came back because Swiss Wassi was so much better.

Very recommendable !!
