December 14th, 2019 Playa Maderas

Super super spot! You can wild camp in front of the beach, great sunsets. You can set up a fire at night. During the day it’s full of people surfing and chilling at the beach, and after 6 pm is deserted and you have it all for you! If you rent a surfboard at the bar right on the beach they let you use the shower/toilet for free.

December 14th, 2019 Machete market café

Really nice place! We went there for Friday Pizza Night, and the pizza was amazing (I’m Italian! It was the best pizza I had in Central America, no doubts). They let us sleep for free in their big secured parking lot, under a tree. Nice staff and good service.

Sea turtle rescue
Just few steps after Rancho Tranquilo, walking along the beautiful beach of Jiquilillo, you will find this place, where Dennis (from California, but based in Nicaragua/Arizona) create a please all around turtles. He’s rescuing turtles eggs, make a nest for them to grow peacefully, and as soon as they are big and strong enough he put them into the ocean, giving them a bit more chances to survive. He’s really passionate about it.
If you would like to see how he works, help him and know more about the project, you can just drive to his place, where he also built a dorm with shared kitchen a toilets, or park your van in the big grass in the back of the house (just few steps from the beach). Prices are 10$ for a bed pp, or to park you van and use toilet is about 5/7$ per car.
See the business card in the picture, and get in contact with him if you wish. Highly recommend if you want to spend few days in Jiquilillo area.

March 15th, 2019 Blue Wave Guesthouse

Really nice and clean hotel. We stayed in a private room with shared bathroom for 32usd per night. They also have rooms with private bathroom. The kitchen and community area are clean and comfortable. They also have a private dock on the beach.

March 13th, 2019 San Pedro Beliz Express Ferry

San Pedro Express Ferry is not the only company that goes to the cayes.
There is another one called Ocean Ferry just 100 meters before, which is much better: is cheaper (17usd a round ticket to Caye caulked, instead of 28usd) and it’s a belizian company, the other one is Chinese and apparently is not an honest company, from what local people told us. So, what we suggest is to park your car at the Raddison for 10usd a day and walk 5 min to go get the Ocean Ferry.

March 5th, 2019 Los Tucanes

Great spot for a stopover between Palenque and Campeche.
Huge garden, swimming pools, a nice lake at the end of the property, horses and peacocks.
The place is very fancy for where it is (but maybe we’ve seen too many Netflix series)...
150pesos per car and good food at the restaurant. Warm showers. Security at night. Decent WiFi.

March 5th, 2019 Lujan

We were looking for a mechanic to check our braking system. We found this mechanic on iOverlander and we decided to check it out.
GREAT! really professional, he and his team helped us right away, replaced the frontal brake pads for a really reasonable price (240pesos + the cost of the parts) and let us use their toilet and Wifi. Friendly, fast and trustful!

February 24th, 2019 Cabañas playa

Great camping by the most amazing beach in Mazunte. Emiliano the owner is charging 100pp but definitely worth it. Woke up in a virgin beach and enjoy one of the best sunsets on the hamacas by night. Super chill and cozy environment. Cold shower and barhroooms are good.

February 24th, 2019 El Copal

Amazing restaurant With stunning views. The owner is super friendly and if there is no many people at the hotel he allows you to use the pool and the jacuzzi for free. (Just ordering something from the restaurant) definitely worthy

February 20th, 2019 Refugia Terraza de la Tierra Cabañas

Very recommended! Peace, yoga, hiking and relax. We parked our van in the parking lot below a tree and they let us use all the facilities (shower, common spaces).

February 19th, 2019 Hierve el Agua

Great place to spend the afternoon and night.
We arrived around 3pm, we swam into the pools, was not so crowded (on a Tuesday).
Then we went for a hour hike to see the Cascadas de Piedras. The best part was after 7pm when everybody leaves and you almost all place for you - we were only 3 vans staying there at night. Beautiful view!!!
They left one toilet open and clean for us. 50pesos per person + the entrance fee of 25pesos. Recommended!

January 23rd, 2019 San Carlos wild Camp

Great area for free camping. Quite busy but big enough to have your privacy. The beach is huge, and you can enjoy a great sunset having a beer.

January 22nd, 2019 Santa Rosa, Seri Territory beach

Incredible! We were the only one in the whole beach enjoying the sunset and the quiet.
Highly recommended if you have a 4x4 or a quite high car, the path to reach the beach is quite long and sandy. Totally doable but with caution.

January 19th, 2019 Glamping Arte y Vino

We spent one night in the Airstream (around 40$ per person) and another one camping with our Van (20$). We loved the place! Not luxury, casual and friendly. The best part is that you can ask Jose to prepare a fire in front of your van (or the airstream), for only 5$, to chill at night. They even give you a telescope to see the stars.
