March 16th, 2019 La Jungla, Catemaco

Very nice and friendly family that has this jungle campground. Small, lots of trees. From the main road it’s 1km through the jungle (bit scary if you arrive later because it’s so dark and many splits in the road but they all lead to the campground !).
Hot showers, cool animal noises and respective animals such as birds and monkeys. 80pp a night. No dump. Very very quiet and nice!!! Go take a look!!

March 14th, 2019 Trailer Park Las Americas

February 19th, 2019 San Miguel RV Park

Great camping in this tennis court/rv park. Perfect for visiting town, but only for up to 25feet due to small streets. One gate is for lower vehicles and one for taller vehicles. We are 3m20 high and fit through both gates. Very friendly owner and the best facilities so far.. pick-up and drop-off laundry service if you want Friday’s and Monday’s!! Perfect location!!

February 10th, 2019 Minas de Santa Brigida

Magisch place!😁 ruins of old fort in conquistadores times and then mines.. very historical place to visit! We spend a very quiet night by the ruins. We negotiated $300 pesos a night with a visit to the ruins included (normally 60 pesos pp). No amenities but friendly owner. Dirty dusty road from Mineral de Pozos.. safe and quiet!! They have food (gorditas) and you can try their mezcal..

February 9th, 2019 Bugamville RV Park

Big rv park. Bathrooms with hot water for showers and toilet; electricity and water and sewer by rv spots.quiet at night! WiFi available.
You can take the local bus into town for 9 pesos pp and it takes about 30 minutes. Take to the last stop and you are in downtown Guanajuato.. beautiful city!! The owner speaks English and is very helpful. 380 pesos a night. Big rig friendly. We liked not having to drive in the city (to other parking options and the bus is all part of experiencing Mexico! Would stay again!

February 6th, 2019 Parque Acuático Kikapu

Friendly and helpful staff. 350 pesos for 2 people a night (to us that’s 100 pesos overpriced). Big gravel rv parking lot with electric, water and sewer. There is a game room with ping pong and football table and tables and chairs for the RV ers. There is a toilet in there. Than there is a small pool with warm water to swim. Next to the pool is a bathhouse with toilets and showers. The showers had barely any pressure and the water was warm enough but not hot. Quiet for sleeping. Some smell of cow lot next door. Faint noise of the train. Not a destination but surely a safe place to park. We were here in low season..

February 3rd, 2019 Presa by Quemada ruins

About 1km past the ruins entrance going west, there is a dirt road. It takes you to the reservoir south of the ruins. It’s a bumpy dirt road between the fields; you’ll see cows and the occasional roadrunner. Cows make cow pies, so some of that around. Very safe and peaceful!! Dark and stars!! No services. The guards at the ruins gave us this alternative; beautiful views..oh and there are fire pits!

January 28th, 2019 In El Palmito

Arrived here wanting to stay in hotel that’s on iOverlander, but it was closed and it has a gate that is too low for high vehicles. As I speak Spanish I was able to ask around as it was already 6pm and they let us stay at the Internado of the school (Bunch of red roofed buildings at the beginning of town coming from the west). It’s the local boarding school. It was Sunday so he the guard let us park behind the fence. Kids had just left for the weekend but if school is on I don’t think you can park here. Right next door is a group of armed men that ‘guard’?! We didn’t feel all that comfortable about it but had a quiet night. Music in town in the evening and lots of people about. Cold at night!
