April 17th, 2016 Surazo Camping

This campground is on the beach with nice tables, chairs, firerings, hot showers, dishwashing sinks. But vehicles need to stay in the parking area right behind the campsites. In high season list price is whopping 40000 pesos!! But in late April off season we took a chance and asked and they offered us 15000. Great price for this upscale town with a beautiful beach. Go to the hotel surazo which manages the campground first.

April 10th, 2016 Cabanas, camping, hostel

6000 pesos per person. The bathroom is clean and nice. The parking/camp area is quiet and sandy. The kitchen belongs to one of the unrented cabins and is not really made for campers. No wifi.

April 8th, 2016 Masi's Place - Surf Camp Maguellines

Great common living and kitchen space with large deck. Nice place to hang out and stretch out for a while even though we don't surf.

March 30th, 2016 Camping Don Lalo

The location is very nice, for valdivia. Beachfront and spacious. Hot water shower is another 1500 pesos each.

March 5th, 2016 Agrocamping La Araucaria

Don't let the solar showers stop you, they have propane hot showers at night too and even at the dish and clothes sinks. No wifi but workable cellular Internet. We stayed in site 2 for two weeks. Close to many termas and nice drive to pucon and the national parks nearby. Nice hike to waterfall on the dirt road going towards huife hot springs. The owners made this place extra special for us.

February 29th, 2016 Playa Santa Barbara

We couldn't find the other boondock place on ioverlander so came to this public spot and loved it. Dolphins and seals close to shore, lots of spaces some with picnic tables and a decent bathroom with dishwashing sinks too. All free. Abalone lovers...at low tide you can harvest some egg sized ones on rocks...very delicious.

February 29th, 2016 Entre Montanas

Large clean rooms, hot showers and fast wifi, with a good restaurant on site all factors that made us stay a few days. Safe parking too. Seems like price is negotiable. We paid 40000 but friends paid 35000 and I saw 30000 written in their book as well. So see if you can get a better price than us. Nice management. DOG FRIENDLY!

February 27th, 2016 Rio Puelo

King salmon running up river in February. You can see them jumping and lots of fisherman trying their luck including us.

February 15th, 2016 Parque Pumalín – Campsite Ventisquero

The long hike to glacier doesn't require a river crossing at least in February. The well marked trail goes up the rainforest to go alongside the river for a stretch. At the glacier you can hike up to touch it. Nice hike and beautiful campground.

February 6th, 2016 Wild Camping beside a fence

Very windy when we were here with winds shooting between the canyon walls. But, a really beautiful place especially if you follow the tracks after the gate all the way in to the end. There is a meadow surrounded by vertical walls with some bolted climbs right at the meadow. More climbing further in by foot. Amazing place.

February 1st, 2016 Veterinarian

Vet for SENASA certificate of health. Cost us 510p.

February 1st, 2016 SENASA El Calafate

SENASA office for dog paperwork and vet is also on ioverlander.

January 30th, 2016 Camping El Ovejero

110p per person plus 50 vehicle charge and no charge for our 5 year old (270p for us). We stayed at niriguao one night (250p because they have a kid charge) then moved here. More professional facilities like really hot water even at outdoor sinks, great water pressure, toilet paper and soap, Wifi decent. Tradeoff is more noise. Campers stay in parking lot but get assigned a table/bench/grill/power site...you can ask for the one next to your vehicle. Better for dog owners too...the other place asked for dog to be leashed all the time.

January 25th, 2016 Camping Bonanza

Great campground very well run by young folks from bariloche. Clean and hot showers, simple kitchen, swinging bridges and trampoline, a little restaurant, all very tastefully done. Dog friendly and no worries about the wind here at all.

January 22nd, 2016 Parque Patagonia – Westwinds

The park is beautiful and has a worthwhile 14 mile Laguna atlas trail (best done east to west imho so you can dip in pristine lake near the end). Vehicles camp in parking lot but the lack of cars make the large grassy campground much more serene. There was a stove in a palapa meant for volunteers but we used it when they weren't there with no problems. Showers are solar. Bathrooms are very nice. Doug Tompkins gravestone is in a understated cemetery that you can visit.

January 20th, 2016 Argentinian Immigration and Customs – Paso Roballos

We crossed here once and on our way back up we took chile Chico thinking that road might be better. It was worse and slower because of deep corrugation from more traffic. Paso roballo was much faster.

January 17th, 2016 El Mosco Hostel And Camping

Loved this place with a great living area and an open kitchen, hot showers, and clean everything all the time. This place is famous among cyclists for good reason. Higgins surprised us...nice little town with deserted hiking trails and snowy mountain views all around.

January 12th, 2016 Rio Baker Bush Camp

It has a nice view, but beware that when we were here on a January weekday this pullout was also used by the rafting tours from puerto Bertrand whose trucks came down to pick up the rafts and then the rafters hung out having mates, so for that not so nice.

January 9th, 2016 Camping Campo Lindo

Thanks for the recommendation. We would not have come down this bumpy road because the nirahuao river did not even show up on our osm map. But it was very worth it we stayed 3 nights. Nice lady will sell her veggies, meat and eggs. Campsites are sweet. Big trouts. And now they have hot showers in the mornings!

December 20th, 2015 Camping Pichi Traful

We enjoyed our stay here. Quiet in December and beautiful. Good fishing on lake at mouth of arroyo.

December 16th, 2015 Camping Traful Lauquen

For 450 pesos (150 per person plus 150 for vehicle), we will keep on moving. Luckily 10km further west has a beautiful campground for one third the price.

December 16th, 2015 Camping Agreste Arroyo Cataratas

Really nice, and huge with all sorts of sites big and small. Grassy and woody up above well protected from wind and sandy and grassy lakefront sites below, a bit colder but amazing views. A rest stop became two nights stay. 80p per person no charge for vehicle. Hot water no wifi.

November 23rd, 2015 Camping El Dique

Came in late November and camping was CLOSED. Restaurant was open though.

November 21st, 2015 Club De Pesca Y Caza

They let us camp in late November although it seemed they weren't officially open for visitors. A nice caretaker lives on property. 30p per person. Hot showers grills tables no wifi. Very pretty, large and quiet with a nice lake to hike around. Recommended!

November 9th, 2015 Hostal El Anexo

It's all good except if you have kids it becomes very expensive. They charged 5000p for our 5 year old so total almost us$30 a night! Showers also not consistently hot otherwise facilities are good.

November 9th, 2015 Boulangerie - La Franchuteria

5 star! All fired in wood oven too. Amazing.

November 5th, 2015 Overland Service antofagasta

Agree with everything. Great guy. We can't thank him enough for his generosity during our 5 day stay during which we added leafs at another shop he recommended and checked out our oil pressure system. He went above and beyond and truly enjoyed the traveling community.

November 3rd, 2015 Centro Médico veterinario

Very nice office who will help with SAG paperwork to bring dog to Argentina if you plan to cross border at San Pedro de atacama. Once you get the certificado de sanitario from SAG you only have up to 7 days to leave chile and in total only 21 days from the certificado date to return to chile without having to obtain new paperwork in Argentina for the dog. Sounds confusing. Yes it is. And so strict. Vet visit, certificate plus parasite meds cost about US$40 equivalent.

November 3rd, 2015 SAG Office for Pet Exportation Papers

To leave chile to Argentina with a dog, you need SAG to issue certificado de sanitario. Cost 6300 pesos. Need original rabies certificate plus one photocopy and two original vet health certificates with parasite medication confirmation. Office is close to the vet on ioverlander.

November 1st, 2015 Playa Cavancha Parking Lot

We set up here and then two different sets of locals came and urged us to leave saying it wasn't safe. When the churros cart lady basically reprimanded us for staying we decided to pack up and leave at 10pm to the flight park also on ioverlander. Things probably do happen here depends on your luck.
