Or, là, c'était la deuxième fois.

we wanted to let you know how we renewed our TIP in NICARAGUA for the second time, since we can't go to other countries because the borders are closed due to the coronavirus.
As a reminder, this temporary importation is only valid for one month and, normally, you can only renew it once (which we did last month). This time was the second time. Arriving two days before the expiration date of our second TIP, we were a bit worried but everything worked fine. We had to write a letter explaining the reasons why and then we got the paper the next day. 30 days more cost us 30$US. And one more month for the insurance, 12$US. The Aduana of Managua is (12.151063,-86.233164). You pay at the bank next door. But for the insurance you have to go to the Lafise bank center on Masaya avenue (12.115361,-86.256424).
In the administrations and banks, they control your temperature at the entry, clean your hands and sometimes your shoes.
Now, we're fine for one more month, til the end of May.

For your information, here is the letter we had to write.

June 10th, 2019 Dentist

At first, I thought this dentist was good. Several appointments to prepare the tooth for a crown. Good communication although she insisted on a metal crown instead of pure ceramic as I wanted.
Then she put on the crown. I didn't really like the feel, a little rough on the tong. But oh well, I felt no pain and thought she did a good job.
Until two months later, until I lost the crown when eating a chocolate chisp !!!
Two dentists said they could glue it back but, since she cut the tooth too short, it wouldn't hold long.
So I'm very desappointed because I have to get a new crown now !
In the end, I don't recommand this dentist. 3800 pesos for a crown that doesn't hold is waisted money.

May 19th, 2019 Tonina Kayab

Quiet place. Asked if we could use the electricity and they allowed us to plug an extension cord into one of the cabana. 👍 still 100p the night.

May 15th, 2019 Entrance National Park Cañon del Sumidero

May 8th, 2019 Ecohotel Costa Verde in Castano

Great place to access the Encrucijada Reserve and its mangrove.
The hotel offers rooms and restaurant. But they let us park for free in front of it with free access to electricity, bathroom and cold showers. :D
Access to wifi for 10pesos/hour.
The 2h30 tour in lancha in the Mangrove is worth the 300pesos/person.
The mangrove trees are the biggest we've ever seen.
But the most incredible are the birds. During the boat tour, you can see the 5 species of kingfishers, Boat-billed herons and AGAMI HERONS ! We saw more than 10 of them. We also saw a Northern Potoo and saw two more of them in the village afterwards :D
In the village and on the access road, you can see Yellow-naped Parrots and Giant Wrens, and many other birds.
We missed the double-striped Thick-knee and mangrove Cuckoo because it was dry season, but they're here too.
This is a community of fishermen that protects and promotes its beautiful environment.
You can go kayak on the main canal on your own. Watch for crocodiles and caimans.
The road to access Castano is not on Maps.me but appears on Google Maps. The last 13km are good dirt road.
Small and medium size rig ok. Not sure for big rig because of branches and small parking lot.
Stayed here 4 days. Recommended.

Perfect place to relax. The hosts are really nice. English spoken.

Not for big rig. Our 2.75m high Iveco caugh branches on the way in. So small to medium size rig.

February 20th, 2019 Gynecologist - Dr Rogelio Eduardo Bazan R.

Gynecologist - Dr Rogelio Eduardo Bazan R.
Calle Navarro 1620 (between Durango and Chiapas)

appointment (tel) : 124 01 11
e-mail : [email protected]

I Needed to run a check up and found this great gynecologist in La Paz.
1000 pesos the consultation (lasted one hour!). 500 pesos more if you need to run a test on the cervix.

Very human, Dr Bazan has all the equipment necessary. You even have your own screen to watch the ultrasounds. He explains everything both in spanish and english.

His office is in a little house in a quiet neighbourhood of La Paz (not far away from the Mc Donald). Very clean. Opening hours vary, generally 11am-2pm and 4pm-10pm. Came to the office on a saturday and had an appointment the following wednesday.

Recommanded ! Better than any of the gynecologists I've had in France !

December 19th, 2018 Gas Tomza

December 4th, 2018 Douglas, Arizona, USA to Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico

Give the paper back, then back into the car, take back G Avenue, turn left on 6th Street and again left on Pan American Avenue.
Take right on 5th avenue, follow the signs to the mexican border.
Easy crossing. Friendly mexican staff.

October 4th, 2018 Sundance rest area

It's a one way on the rest area. We turned around on the dump station because it was easier for us to fill in water.
A cop arrested us with flashing lights and all only because we turned around on the dump station. 😮 nobody was around. We didn't bother anyone except this cop.
Asked all our documents (passeports, van paper and insurance, drivers licenses) Kept us waiting for 10 minutes and then gave us à "verbal warning". 😰😡

August 24th, 2018 Lax An Zox Fish Camp

The Nisgaa people that run this fish camp are only here in the summer but the place is open year round and free.

During the salmon season, watch the people fish, smoke and prepare the salmons.
There is a gift shop. If you buy a T-shirt, you have a peace of smoked salmon free.
Camping is free on the parkings above the camp.
If you go on the little path down where the Meziadin river meets the Nass river, you might encounter on of the 2 grizzly bears that live in the area.
Careful. But thery'e great to watch.
