August 1st, 2020 Col de la Fromagère

Coming from Rosans take the second unmarked “piste” in the right hand side. Follow the gravel road up, until just before the barrier past a left hand corner. Here you have a level plateau wher you can camp peacefully. No services whatsoever and no mechanical noises. Access requires vehicle with sufficient ground clearance (4x4)

July 31st, 2020 Moulin du Pied de la Poua

On the D20 between Esparron and Chateauneuf d’Oze just before a cluster of houses, (just before crossing Le Drouset river) there is a gravel “piste” for mountainbikers up the mountain. At the first split take the left hand route. At the second split you’re there. Best suited for 4x4 with sufficient clearance.

Drive past Comana de Sus on a dirt road until the signboard. It's a nice 1,1 km hike upstream to a rather small cave in the forest above. This looks like a splendid spot to camp - with a river across the road.

Not that much campsites in this area, so we looked for a wild camp spot. Easy access with any overland vehicle. Several levels - more than 5 rigs can camp here - with some privacy. Well sheltered from the road. Clean and safe spot (no rubble).

May 24th, 2017 La Chacra Holandesa

We stayed with Jan and Marieke for a couple of days, while arranging the shipment of our car back to Antwerp. Friendly couple, most welcoming, convenient location & all the facilities you may need at your disposal! Recommended!

Shipped back our car from Montevideo, because the arrival in Buenos Aires did not go as planned... Thanks to Eduardo everything went super smooth. Great service! Recommended.

Coming from Montevideo, drive past Tranqueras and take southward bound dirt road +/- at Km 248. Follow the signs. Some routes are impassable after down poor, so better check with Nathaly beforehand via WhatsApp!

Perfect spot to spent the night. No obligation to visit the ruins :-)

May 6th, 2017 San Ignacio, Small meadow Next To the Ruins.

Checked out this spot, but preferred to drive on to Misiones de Loreto, close by where we were welcomed by the staff and stayed the night (see different entry)

May 3rd, 2017 Before Church

The pointer (gps coordinates) was placed in the middle of the village. We went in search of the church and talked to church authorities for permission (granted).

So I changed the coordinates to the parking place next to the church. The gas station is down at the main road and has toilets.

April 24th, 2017 Camping Tucan

Well kept campsite with all amenities required. Clean, with lots of grass. Was closed due to flooding of the lower part, but they let us in anyhow. Nice caretaker.

April 24th, 2017 Agua Calientes Los Hervores

Campsite next door is much nicer. This place really looked drab because the river flooded.

April 22nd, 2017 Next to school in Pozo Del Tigre

Thanks. Good spot on the way to Brazil.

April 19th, 2017 La Vispera - Hotel

Onze of these rare exceptional places in South-America. Fully equipped kitchen, super shower, clean and beautifully designed & maintained site, lots of space and friendliness of the entire staff. Dutch owners are retired now, but they are still living on the compound. Highly recommended.

Worthwhile place. Helpful people. Excellent overlander atmosphere. It was good staying here a couple of nights, before heading to Manchu Picchu.

March 27th, 2017 Mirador Pucará de Copaquilla

The village down there offers nice spots to camp. Wild camp, that is. You can drive down dirt road A-141 until you reach the village at 2900 m height. No dogs = No people living here.

March 27th, 2017 Camping piedra Luna

We had a bit of bad luck: loud and drunk Colombians at the pool. 2 different & loud music sources at the same time = kakafonie ... Wifi broken. We left after dinner for another camping...

March 27th, 2017 Camping San Pedro

Actual name is camping "San Pedro". Although closed during the week, outside high season, they let us camp for the night.

Since we were there alone, wifi signal was strong and fast. Swimming pool. Cold showers. Clean site. Helpful and friendly owners

March 20th, 2017 Hostal Quinua Dorada

It is great to meet such kind hosts. We arrived quite late, in 2 separate vehicles with one member of our party that got ill. We were offered all possible comfort. It is an excellent place to stay a couple of nights in Uyuni. Clean. Helpful people. City Centre and ATM's at walking distance.

March 15th, 2017 Casa Campestre
