June 16th, 2016 Kilometer 62 Truck Stop

Safe place to sleep in front of restaurants and tiendas. Popular stop for truckers. Toilets and showers available for a fee. We just parked in front of a shop. They close at 11:00pm and start opening at 7:00am.

June 15th, 2016 El Mirador

Previous description is correct, but the renovations have not yet been done to the camping facilities and the walk to the restaurants and tour operators in town is more like 30 minutes (not 15).

June 15th, 2016 gasolinera

Simple and friendly. Hot water shower. Toilets and shower very dirty, one of the worst yet in 1.5 years of central and South America travelling. Now 40 BOB a night. Police came at 11:30 at night to check everyone's ID and entry stamps. Walking distance to copacobana.

May 23rd, 2016 Genaro Moscosco La Torre

Spent another night here after Machu Picchu. Again loud music until very late/early. Not many other options but would not recommend. Toilets are bad. Too many people for facilities. Genaro (owner) is friendly but really does not care.

May 21st, 2016 Genaro Moscosco La Torre

Bathrooms are gross. They had an organized party with a DJ and lights and at least 40 people. Noise until late at night. But only 10 soles to stay and park during a Machu Pichu visit.

May 20th, 2016 Ollantaytambo Lodge

Nice place, quiet. Asked for 50 soles talked down to 40. No shower available for us. Let us plug in overnight but when we woke up we were unplugged as we had "reached our limit" for electricity.

May 15th, 2016 Hotel Tampumayu

As described. Price now $20 soles for 2 people.

May 13th, 2016 Repsol Gas Station

No problem to fill US portable tank. They need to know liters though, not pounds. It 1.96 liters per pound for propane.

May 11th, 2016 La Maison Suisse

Trees provide great shade. Showers are hot during day but quite cool at night. WiFi is from a cellular modem with limited data but good speed. They turn it off often and it ended up not working for us. Place is looking quite rundown. Planes only take off only during the day. Neighbors roosters (yes plural) are really, really noisy. Bring ear plugs. Still 20 soles per person. Off season, pool does not appear to be maintained.

May 10th, 2016 Hospedaje Barcelona Beach

Nice hotel. Secure parking with height limit (our 2.7 meter tall van fit with plenty to spare. Not sure about car camping, we took a room because we wanted a shower. Still 70 soles but includes use of kitchen. No hot water or wifi in off season so we got discount to 50 soles for two people.

May 6th, 2016 Descubriendo El Norte y Otros Destinos

Camping in Huanchaco and want to surf, tour or just need to get into Trujillo to buy a few things? These are your people. Gigi and Dario are great a great couple and helped us get a fake license plate for the front of our van and reflector stickers so that the police would stop bothering us. You can knock on their door or contact them via email [email protected] or phone/cell/WhatsApp (044)733220 or (+51)961041870 or (+51)968285050

May 6th, 2016 Auto Boutique M&A

Made up a fake license plate. 2 for 40 soles. Not perfect but good enough!

April 23rd, 2016 Coco

Lots of mosquitos. Price is now $7.50 per person and no use of the kitchen allowed. Beach and water are very nice. Electricity in restaurant but owner chain smokes making it very smelly.

April 14th, 2016 Arie's cabins

Excellent place to stay and/or park while going to the Galapagos. Arie and Maria are super friendly and helpful. Go for the pizza at Maria's restaurant, you won't be disappointed. $8 per person plus $2 per person if you need the bathroom or shower.

April 6th, 2016 Zumag Sisa (Hostal & Camping)

The hostel has good amenities for overlanders, such as secure parking, outdoor sink, indoor kitchen and seating area, and multiple bathrooms. Pablo and Marcia are very friendly and helpful hosts. They let us park under the roof of their paved garage so that we could do repairs on our van. They also lent us their tools and helped us to find auto parts in town. Pablo offers sight-seeing tours around Tena, including a multi-day jungle tour where you can interact with the Waorani indigenous community. We paid $8 per person to camp in the hostel parking lot, use the communal facilities, and access a hot, high-pressure shower in one of the double rooms. We posted updated photos of the property.

April 2nd, 2016 Parking lot at the thermal baths

Now $1US a night. Bathrooms are now locked overnight and cost 0.15 to use during the day. Thermal pools are very nice and $3US. Hot showers at the pools until 7pm.

March 30th, 2016 La Bicok Ecolodge - Camping

One of the most beautiful and well set-up places for overlanders. Highly recommended. $7US per person. Restaurant is finished and absolutely beautiful.

February 21st, 2016 Hostal Maria

Owners have been gone for two days. They left there dog and are gone. Van is locked in, we are not. Dog poops wherever it wants. Somehow today a chicken showed up. We are out of here as soon as possible.

February 20th, 2016 Hostal Maria

More of a hotel than Hostal. Private rooms with bathrooms and hot water. Parking for smaller rigs under 2.6 meters tall Entry into parking is awkward and narrow. Great location. Access to communal kitchen, but ring your own plates and cutlery. Very basic but cheap, $8 per person.

February 13th, 2016 Casa Pastoral Las Lehas

Follow instructions below to get to the hotel. Cones and chain will be moved when you ask. We camped in our van for 10000 and had use of lobby toilet.

February 6th, 2016 Hospedaje Lucerna

Same as everybody says. Nice hot shower. Please, please, please try to take your garbage out with you, they just throw it over the fence into the river.

February 4th, 2016 Camping Gamcelat

As everybody has said except for the noise. Between the dogs and local roosters it can get noisy. 10000 per person
