February 1st, 2020 Extremely bad road conditions

Riding a motorcycle and except two part of less than a kilometer where the road was just a bunch of patch, the road is all aspahalt and good.
Not the best road ever, but still good.

January 18th, 2020 El Boliche De Alberto

Good restaurant, first time I eat in Argentina so no idea if its to expensive or not.
Paid 1200 for a glass of wine, water, big steak and papas fritas (but hell yeah papas fritas was for two not just for me)
And the steak was good.
I was advise by my hostel to come here.

January 16th, 2020 begin/end ripio

80km of gravel road. Some time good, some time less good.
Deep gravel, some sand and washboard.
But I pass everything in circa 2hour with my motorcycle.

January 7th, 2020 ONKEL.INN WAGON SLEEPBOX UYUNI

Nice hotel. I love the idea to re-use a space in this train-station. To match with the theme, the room are small like in a real train. But it's big enough to sleep inside.
The parking is public but it's safe to let my bike sleep outside.
Nice breakfest
And the owner is really kind.

January 7th, 2020 Dakar monument and International Flags

Really nice to reach this place with my bike. They are a bit water at the beginning but after less than a kilometer it's dry until here.

January 6th, 2020 Salt Flats Entrance

As previously said, you can drive until here, it's where begin the salt flat.
After this you have some water at this period of the year, but with my bike I try and it was ok. (of course I had salt everywhere after, but a good wash and it's ok)
I would say between 30 and 45 centimeters maximum (if you don't chose the good path)

January 6th, 2020 DG Gas

As I was with a motorcycle, they let me pass in front of everybody. 5 Bob per liter sin factura.
Just be aware of the dog around here, he really don't like biker (or everybody)...

January 6th, 2020 Cementerio de Trenes

Really interesting atmospheres to see all those old train.
No garbage here but to reach the spot you will pass through a field of garbage.

January 6th, 2020 carwash

Wash my bike for 15 bob. At the beginning they ask for 30.

December 28th, 2019 Nasca Lines

Like previously say, the price is now at 4 sole. But it good to see those 3 formation.
the new tower is build, but still not open yet. In the next few month I think.

December 28th, 2019 Bruce's Restobar

Nice restaurant, lot of different biere. I like the Vibe.
we even have the coffee offer because we where biker and they were crazy with those big bike.

December 21st, 2019 qispi kay hostel

Bed bugs! After 8 months of travel I'm not picky on the hostel. But here it's another level.
A lot of bed bugs in the bed (just that should be enough to make you run away).
They don't give bed sheet and towel unless you ask for it. And on the morning, when I wanted to ask for a towel everybody was sleeping with an hard hangover...
It's really dirty everywhere.
I told to the staff many time to speak slow because my spanish isn't great, but he didn't care at all and keep speaking like it was a speed contest.
I didn't stay for the breakfast, but as I've see the state of the kitchen I have no regret.

December 20th, 2019 Hotel La Casa del Montañero

The owner told me this was my home and I really feel like it was.
He is very kind and give me some good advise for restaurant.
The breakfast was perfect.
Of course it was a bit cold, but it's normal in the mountain and once you are in your bed it's perfect.
Feel really secure.

November 22nd, 2019 Taco Joint

Amazing food, and one of the cheapest one I've see here.
The burritos are super tasty.
A need to go. Really. At least give it a try, because it's really good.

November 20th, 2019 Guasaule, Honduras to Somotillo, Nicaragua

Cross this border around 11am from Honduras to Nicaragua. With motorcycle.
Take me 2 hour.

On the Honduras side (no fee):
A huge line of truck where there. I pass all of them until I see the aduana. A lot of pushy helper.

-Go through the building, to the other side are the immigration post.
-In front is for your moto where you can cancel your TIP.

-change money if you need (be really careful and aware of the change, they try to take an huuuuge comission)

On the Nicaragua side (10+2+2+12 dollar fee):
-Drive to the other side of the bridge
-There a man check your passeport and give you a formular to fill.
-Fumigation (free)
-As it is in construction you need to go to the other side of the road to the "green" building.
-inside you can have your passeport stamp. 12 dollars (no corobora). Also need to show the formular previoulsy fill om internet.
-Go outside to find the man who will check your motorcycle. And after he will send you to the x-ray room. It's inside the green building, the big black door.
He said that I should take one of my luggage to the x-ray, but I didn't and they sign the paper anyway. They just don't care.
-They scan all your paper and then you good to go. 2 dollar fee again.

- Pass in front the green building to exit.
- Just when you will be on the road again, a man stop me and I needed to show him my paper.
-At the same place you can have your insurance for 12 dollar.

November 19th, 2019 Palmira Hostel

Nice hostel. Secure parking for 2 motorcycles and 2 car.
Strong wifi, free city tour.
The dorm is Huge, so a lot of people could be there. For me it was almost empty, so it was ok.

November 18th, 2019 Pupuseria Mary

I didn't see the previous comment. It's still true. Don't go there. Expensive for nothing and they try to cheat on the bill.
Just up the street you have los asado (if I remember right).

November 18th, 2019 El Florido, Chiquimula, Guatemala to Copan Ruinas, Honduras

like descriped easy border crossing. I was alone to, so it was pretty fast.
They didn't make free copy for me, I needed to go back to the small village ans the price for importation of my bike was 887 lp.
On monday morning it's take me only one hour to get trough.

November 15th, 2019 El Ceibo, Tabasco, Mexico to El Ceibo, El Peten, Guatemala

Mexico to Guatemala (motorcycle)
I've passed this border in around one hour on Friday at 11am. Whitout any problem.

- After the military check point you will see one big white building and 100m after another one smaller. Stop to the small one to have your stamp out from Mexico. They ask for your receipt entrance (if you still have it). The guy didn't speak English, but no problem to understand us.
- Then go to the big white building. Inside on your left is the bank to cancel your vehicle importation and have your TIP back. The guy speak enough English. He will take your information and photos of your motorcycle.

- Drive to Guatemala and stop direct after. You will see a white truck amd behind is a building. Its there were you will have your passeport stamp.
- Get back to the white truck. There you make your importation for your vehicle.
You will need
---> copy of your passeport (stamp and front page)
---> copy of driver licence
---> copy of vehicle registration
Wait until the guy print you the formular to pay the fee of importation. You can pay it at the casa rural (which seem to be the normal way for them)
- Go up the village and found the guy who can change you pesos to quetzqual. Little tip if you look before the rate of change you can argue with him and not be fool.
- Up the hill on your right its the casa rural. Inside you have a big fence, it's there. The guy took me 170 quetzqual, 10 of commission seems to be ok.
- On your way down, just before you left the village you will found somone who can make you the copy you need.
- Go back to the truck and finish your paper. The guy in the withe truck speak a bit of English.
-last move is fumigation which was 25Q for my bike.

Then you are all set.

The helper were some little kid. Don't trust them, they won't help you and try to trick you every time.

November 15th, 2019 Military checkpoint

Riding to Guatemala, just wave through.
No problem.

November 13th, 2019 Road block

No problem today, nothing one the road except some kid with a rope. I didn't stop.

I ask before at my hostel in San cristobal and they say at this time they are really quiet.
In summer it's block almost every day.

One other advice was to start at 8 or 9 o'clock on the morning from San cristobal. So you drive with the Mexican traffic and you avoid to be catch alone.

By the way...so many topes... argh.

October 9th, 2019 Otay Mesa, San Diego, California, USA to Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico

Easy border crossing.
keep right on the road and when you will be able to see the border you will have a building on your right. Park there and go to the first entrance to fill your tourist card.
Then go to the bank (same Building, just a few meter away) to paid the fee.
Come back to the first place to have your stamp and a copie of your passport.

If you need to have your bike or van temporary permits go back to the bank to fill the paper and pay everything.
