November 7th, 2019 Free beach camping

We came late at night in Pto Escondido and drove around a little before deciding to make a stop here. T’was to late to ask anyone but no one bothered us. Calm et quiet at night.

November 5th, 2019 BP gas station/OXXO

A 24h gas station a few kilometer out of busy and noisy Oaxaca de Juarez city, on our way to Puerto Escondido via San Jose del Pacifico. Bathrooms use is 3$MEX and they are also 24h (at night just have to knock and the attendant comes to open).

We entered Oaxaca after sunset and it had been challenging to get through. Not many truckers friendly PEMEX or recent iOverlander reviews in the area. When we found the place I gladly offered 100$MEX to the police/guard working overnight.

November 4th, 2019 Pemex/Oxxo station

Very similar to the one described north of here. 24h, guard on duty, clean free bathrooms. Italian Coffee Shop has wifi, you get the password ordering a coffee. (It is [Passwords are not allowed] as of today). The place is crowded with trucks at night, noisiest night for a long time for us. Earplugs would have been a great addition.

Police station is right next door.

November 4th, 2019 Mobil Truck Station

Nice and clean Mobil gas station. Showers are on the trucker’s entrance in the back of the main building; cost is 35$MEX per person. Hot water take some time to come. Very clean. There is no wifi available (there is one but employees do not know the password since it has been changed and is now only for the owner’s usage).

Didn’t spent the night here, we were looking to wash and get some wifi access. 1 on 2.

November 3rd, 2019 Pemex

As described. Nice place to spend the night, but noisy. Bathrooms are 5$MEX or free if you put gas (good thing to keep a fews 5$MEX coins at hand).

November 2nd, 2019 Beachside

100% agree with above description. Perfect, quiet, beautiful, safe.

Some locals are spending the night here, friendly people. Lots of place not to bother each other.

November 1st, 2019 Busy PEMEX/Oxo station

This is a very busy spot where lots of truckers spend their night after getting off the boat in Topolobampo. Bathrooms are closed between 23h55 and 6h00.

It is s safe spot.

October 31st, 2019 Cafe on the beach

The spot is nice if you have to spend a night waiting for the ferry to the mainland.

Water is too shallow and the bottom of it isn’t nice (seaweed, rocks) for a real swim.

Were ask 100 pesos for the night but negotiated to have it for free after spending much more in the restaurant...

October 30th, 2019 Desert stay

We stayed there on our way to La Paz. Really nice ´cause it’s quite different the most spot along the coast we has before.

Quiet and flat!

October 29th, 2019 Playa Escondido

Very nice spot, great beach and warm clear water. Far from the highway, very calm.

We were swimming to a nearby island when the guy asking for the 150 pesos came, and he didn’t come back before us leaving... but I would have paid that fee happily!

Another travel had spearfished a bunch of fish that he shared with our family: delicious!

October 28th, 2019 Huerta Don Chano RV Park

Nice campground with all the amenities as described, but the owner wanted us to pay 100 pesos per person, although it was supposed to be 150pesos without electricity or 200 pesos with.

We are a family of 6 (2 adults, 3 teens, 1 kid), no way I would pay 500 or 600 pesos for a night in Baja. We badly wanted to have a hot shower, so I negotiated and he agreed to let us stay for 300 pesos.

October 27th, 2019 Surf Break and Sand Beach

We came here after nightfall, not easy to find only with beam lights, but we did it.

No interesting waves when we came, but the spot is perfect as it is huge, hidden from the village, quiet. High clearance advisable but 2wd is ok.

October 26th, 2019 Old guard shack

The old guard shack has been demolished. We came around sunset, so we decided to stay overnight although it is simply a small dirt road on the side of the main road.

Kinda noisy because there is a night club close by (and it was Saturday...). Felt safe anyway, better that spending the nights on Ensenada.

October 14th, 2019 Battery Spencer

Came here around 6pm, stayed around all evening and slept.

The view of SF is astonishing. Windy, but quite quiet considering how close it is from the city. Somehow a busy place til late in the evening than early in the morning, but the night part was perfect.

October 13th, 2019 Thousand Trails Russian River

PRICY !!

We planned on staying over for 1 night, but we were stunned by a 74$ fee (basic 64$ plus 10$ for whatever reason I choose to ignore.

Instead, there are several available spots along the Geysers Rd between Hwy101 and the camping entrance. Many RV’s and trailers were already using some of the spots, but as stated, there are many empty. We can hear hwy 101 in the distance, but not too disturbing. So: nice, semi-quiet and convenient. No « no camping » signs.

October 12th, 2019 Houda Point

We got there for sunset, nice view and beach with a history of surfing.

We had planned on staying overnight: when we ask a local if he thought it would be a problem for us to stay, he gently offered us to come to its home, featuring a lovely 40 years old house in the middle of a « second growth » redforest, with garden, some fruit trees, etc.

We couldn’t say no ! And had a wonderful time...

October 11th, 2019 Curry County Park at Floras Lake, NICE

As described, quiet and private although lots are quite close to each others. RV price is 20$ without electricity and 25$ with, shower are 1,50$, but since we are a family of 6, we found out after paying for the first 2 showers, that we didn’t have to had quarters for the next one, and the next one, and so on...

October 10th, 2019 Siuslaw National forest - by the beach

Perfect spot, as described. Soft sand, 4x4 and under inflated tires a must for the beach. Good fire. All by ourselves... 3G available on the beach only .

Endroit parfait !

October 9th, 2019 bagby hot springs trailhead

We stayed in the parking lot to be up early in the morning and avoid the crowded hot tubs.

Plenty of room for a big rig, free in the parking lot.

October 8th, 2019 Free Campspot at Riffe Lake

Beautiful view on the lake. Lots of place, there are effectively many others, some less friendly than others.

We choose to stay without interacting with anyone (we normally like to get in touch with others). We had a nice time.
