August 18th, 2020 river bank

nice spot a few feet from the river. we drove down onto a gravel bank in the river, i imagine spring and winter that wouldn't be possible (or advisable).

if the gravel bank in river is not accessible there is still a camp spot on the actual river bank.

Beside the road, very little traffic on this road at night.

July 31st, 2020 Long Lake Boat Launch

nice spot 3 mins from vermillion bay, looks like a seldom used boat launch and campsite. really nice spot beside the lake, far enough from the highway that noise isn't an issue. great sunset spot.

access road is tight with trees, but plenty of room at the site.

3 bars cell service, good swimming rock down the shoreline, good hammock spot and some good wildlife.

be respectful of local boaters trying to launch if someone shows up, make sure you give them lots of room.

July 29th, 2020 Moonlight beach

nice spot. we were lucky and got the waterfront spot. the tree is still down so only room for one truck/van down below. plenty of room in the gravel lot above if waterfront is taken.

if you are camped up top it's only a 30 second walk to the "beach" at the waterfront site. if you're lucky and get waterfront, be nice and don't take over the whole beach.

July 28th, 2020 Wawa - TOP (Sandy beach)

Sleeping in a gravel parking lot. beach is fantastic, and yes there are toilets, but it is still just a gravel lot. gets busy during the day.

govt beach (just down the road) is also a gravel lot, but beach is rarely visited. no toilets there.

July 21st, 2020 Wolf River Camp Area

Very near a relatively busy hwy. The site is really nice, though a bit of garbage and toilet paper around (how do people not understand!!! bury, burn or pack out your tp!!)

locals swimming and fishing spot, but good camp spots tucked out of the way around a sketchy corner.

I'm sure there are much nicer, much quieter spots to be found rather than this. Works fine for a night though.

July 20th, 2020 Sitches lake boat (canoe) launch

Really nice spot just off the hwy on sitches lake. bugs weren't too bad. The turn off is onto a tiny dirt road going down the bank of the hwy, steepish but probably fine for most vehicles.

we camped in the "boat launch" and it was great, but just be mindful of anyone loading and unloading boats.

Road noise, but minimal traffic.
2 bars of cell service

July 12th, 2020 fsr pull out 2

bit further up the road and up a few more hills to another pull out. this one with a bit more of a view.

July 11th, 2020 fsr pull out

nice flat spot for truck camper. tucked away with very little wind so expect mosquitos. nice spot though for a night. quiet. 1 bar cell service. looks like it could get muddy on the road up with one climb right at the beginning.

fire ring and benches set up.

March 21st, 2020 Borax Lake, Alvord Desert

small dirt road near there led to a closed gate and private property.

March 21st, 2020 side road near springs

Good, relatively flat spot at entrance. We drove further in and camped but didn't find any pullouts and it looks like it may be private property. No cell signal.

February 2nd, 2020 the outpost - picacho park

Picacho park is a paid state park. $20 for one vehicle camping, 10 for day use, and more fees in the image included.

The main road access is from the south, however with some guts and a really good very high clearance 4x4 rig with good turning radius, there are dune buggy trails coming in from the west which are interesting (indian pass rd, and buggy rd 659).

the outpost is the furthest north site in the campground. this one and "4S" have river access, though limited space. you might need 4x4 to get here cos of soft gravel, but not a bad road. call the number listed at the Picacho site for road info.

January 30th, 2020 Puertecitos Pemex

Google maps says there is a gas station in town but it is out of gas. Locals say it is hit and miss.

January 27th, 2020 BLUE NATION DIVING

dove with these guys and also with dolphin dive the following day, would recommend blue nation way way more than dolphin dive.

very professional, good gear, but better - good dive plans that accommodate variety of abilities in each dive, and allows those of us that don't breathe as heavy to stay down longer while the others safely go to the boat. very safe ops, highly recommended.

fyi: scuba diving is a bit cheaper in Cabo, however this was pretty fantastic.

January 26th, 2020 Camping with good surf

blue building is near coast, not near paved road...but yes when you see it take the dirt track that winds its way to coast, past blue building. road continues all along the coast with plenty of flat spots to camp...solid enough, a bit sandy. wouldn't want to trailer anything along the sandy road.

surf break is seasonal, could be a small point there otherwise check down the coast for potential beach break. LOTS OF STINGRAYS. locals sometimes wear funny foam boots to walk the first bit of the break...otherwise they have all been hit by a ray.

main point break is in town.

January 24th, 2020 Playa Armenta

fixing coordinates. obvious white sand beach in the valley. loses sun fairly early and its late to get it back...but beautiful spot that wasnt crowded when everything else was sardines! if windy the mangroves might be better.

access is either from the hwy (theres a dodgy handwritten sign saying entrada) or easier from the mangroves area .3km north.

guy came around and very casually asked for 100 or 150peso...seemed fine with 100. super nice guy...kinda funny.

January 17th, 2020 west coast to san javier

road was good 2wd dirt road. plenty of washboard on west side...slower going bumps and rocks as you get closer to san javier. Took about 4hrs from hwy on west to san javier. from around to san javier is the most beautiful. if heavy rains it'd be a different story I'm sure.

we had a bit of water in the arroyos and roads east of here...nothing deep or soft but enough that the birds and animals flocked to. plenty of roadrunners!!

nice option if you want a change of scenery from baja beaches. san javier is 2nd oldest mission in baja.

photos are general road shot and mission in san javier.

January 17th, 2020 Bush Camp

Easy pull-off from main road, a bit narrow if you're worried about your paint, but opens up to a nice camp spot right after. We came in from the West and the road is good so far, river crossings are dry. A few cows woke the dog up in the middle of the night.

January 15th, 2020 Beach on La Paz spit

nice spot to explore la paz from. about 20 mins out of town. can drive on the soft sand for a nice spot, or there is one spot on firm close to the road at this site

January 15th, 2020 great grocery great price

Sorianas - best grocery/superstore we've been to yet. way better than walmarts for selection and better prices. atm at the door as well. great produce, meat, bakey etc plus all the other random stuff found in walmarts and superstores...but mexican pricing.

January 13th, 2020 Supermercado Chapito’s

not sure where previous ppl have been shopping...but this is mid to small sized fairly typical supermarket. don't get too excited...pretty standard. meat dept limited. no deli.

January 13th, 2020 Snorkelling beach

nice spot just off the road. tucked in to some rocks (probably want 4x4 for the short sandy bit). good snorkelling in the rocks behind the truck when the tide is higher. accessed from south with no bumpy hill just before this beach area where the other sites are located.

3 bars of 4G cell

January 12th, 2020 Arroyo bonita

nice spot on this coast, drive down a beautiful arroyo that would offer a lot of protection from wind if you were to camp here. soft ish sand in arroyo...probably ok with 2wd but we had it in 4x4 for safe measure.

otherwise beach is like a lot of others on the coast...sandy rocky moderately steep. One of those massive houses south of here but far enough that it's not too noticeable. one of the nicer spots in the area.

please don't drive much on the beach...turtles nesting here. pack it in pack it out and enjoy the whale shows.

January 12th, 2020 road wash

large puddles (or small ponds) covering the road just south of this spot. About 1.5-2ft deep...hasn't been any rain here for 2 weeks+.

was fine in nissan frontier (good undercarriage wash) but probably wouldn't want much smaller than this. passed a guy in a lifted E350 van that did it too w no issues.

January 11th, 2020 Los Frailes

lots and lots of long term RVs parked there. i imagine a fair few with generators. beach seemed nice...just busy and considering so many better ones to choose from, we left. beaches further south have been great so far.

road heading north to cabo pulmo had a foot+ of water covering it and soft sand in the pools. do-able with the truck, but i wouldn't take a small car through there.

January 8th, 2020 West Cape Baja Sur

Southbound entrance was pretty bad (washed out, deep soft sand), we didn't attempt it. Northbound entrance was good. Watch for soft sand in the arroyo. Didn't stay but nice place to stretch your legs.

January 8th, 2020 Camino Cabo Este

not sure why you would take this road. google says to, but the obvious road doesn't go to the coast here. we didn't come this way so i cant speak to road conditions, but follow the main road to get to the beaches (shipwrecks, nine palms, etc)

January 6th, 2020 La Pastora

nice spot, easy access to a great little town. if there's wind bugs aren't bothersome, but with no wind plenty of bugs around.

surf is shallow, rocky (with barnacles), and steep. intermediate to adv skill recommended. nice spot to camp if beginners want to go surf the beach at cerritos during the day though.

January 5th, 2020 Beach on La Paz spit

nice spot...specially for being so close to the city. some locals were around having a beer with friends in the afternoon but really nice and no problems at all. room for two or three vehicles. soft sand. pull out to the right when heading out the spit. quiet at night, even on a Saturday.

January 5th, 2020 Water Purification Station

closed on sunday. damn. going in search of mas agua!!!

January 4th, 2020 Punta Conejo

lots of gringos...mostly surfers. two waves, one left point break rocky (watch for urchins) and one deep beach break. swell tends to break bigger here. magic seaweed said 2-3ft and it was overheaders. long bumpy road for access near km 82...paid 70p per person, guy came in the morning to collect. lots of spots. please dont drive on the beach - turtles nesting
