June 10th, 2020 Dumpstation smokemont free

Dump and water are near the exit. Not sure if you are supposed to use them unless you are staying at the campground, but no one stopped us.

June 10th, 2020 Fort Payne Walmart

Just another Walmart parking lot. No signage forbidding overnight parking. We are in a Sprinter and stayed in the back with two semis.

June 10th, 2020 Alabama Welcome center and rest area

There are signs here that say 3 hour parking between 6 PM and 6 AM so unable to overnight here. Free dump though!

June 8th, 2020 Smoky bear campground

We spent two nights here and had an awesome time. We rarely pay to camp, but this place has a pool, playground, bathhouse, dump, firepits, WIFI, and more. $41 a night for a "tent site," but ours came with electricity and water. Only 20 minutes away from Gatlinburg. Highly recommend if you are traveling with kids.

June 7th, 2020 Dennis Cove NF Campground

Up a windy, narrow, paved road which is likely not suitable for big rigs. $10 for single and $20 for group site. Can reserve some spots on recreation.gov, but others are first-come, first-serve. Amenities include flushable toilets, firepit, picnic tables, and garbage cans. No showers or shore power. Easy access to several waterfalls in the area and the Appalachian Trail. No cell service on ATT.

June 6th, 2020 Lake Douglas TVA Land

Place is packed on the weekend and lots of people look like they are moving in. We had to find somewhere else to go.

Update: We ended up finding a parking spot in the TVA across the street. We got the sense a guy camped there was trying to run us off by lying about calling the cops on another group of campers that day, saying they attacked him, but then he was living amongst a ton of gear/supplies they "supposedly" left behind. He then proceeded to have no less than 10 cars come to his campsite at all hours of the night. Shady AF. We just stayed the night in the van and left early.

June 5th, 2020 Nissan Stadium

I'd say one of the sketchier places we've van camped (granted we don't stealth camp often). Great access to the city and attractions, but several nefarious people loitering the area and loud music all night. Maybe it'd be different if it wasn't the weekend, there wasn't a pandemic, or daily protests right now.

June 4th, 2020 Tombigbee Campground Free Dump

Free dump at an established campground in Tombigbee Recreation Area. Non-potable water available.

June 4th, 2020 Colbert Ferry Park

We were expecting a campground, but in reality it's just another parking lot. There is a grassy lawn where we saw two people set up tents. Slept well and enjoyed hanging out at the picnic tables by the river.

June 2nd, 2020 Jeff Busby – Natchez Trace Parkway

Great free campground along the Natchez Trace. We stayed two nights and only saw three other campers roll through. Bathrooms are still closed due to Covid-19. If you go hiking be careful of the poison oak and ivy.

June 1st, 2020 Natchez Trace

There are freaking alligators here! Been here two hours and already seen a few! We plan to stay the night since there isn't another spot close by, but we are pretty freaked out and definitely not leaving the van.

Update: Didn't die from an alligator and had a quiet sleep.

May 31st, 2020 Natchez Tourism Dept. RV Dumps

Yay! Free dump! We plan to stay the night here too.

May 31st, 2020 Natchez Visitor Center

Spent one night here while we were exploring Natchez. Uneventful and relatively quiet night with two other RV. Awesome that they have a free dump, garbage cans, and potable water (by the visitor center entrance).

This pin is in the wrong location and I have tried to correct it. If you follow this pin it will take you to a business park on the outskirts of town that has signs that explicitly say "no overnight parking." In case the coordinates don't get fixed you should google Fallo-Pleasant Municipal Parking for the actual lot all of these reviews describe. We spent two nights there and you couldn't ask for a better location to explore Ocean Springs.

May 25th, 2020 Jennings Travel Center

Free dump! Located between the main store and the semi gas pumps.

May 25th, 2020 Sherbrooke WMA. LA

I cannot begin to tell you how many bugs are here. Dragon flies, mosquitoes, gnats, no-see-ums, fire ants, hornets, cicadas oh my! We legit couldn't step outside even with a bug fogger, candle, bug dope, and deet lotion. Could be because of all the recent rain, but I would not recommend this spot right now.

May 24th, 2020 Chambers County Rest Stop

Good for one night sleep. We are in a Sprinter van and chose to stay with the semis. Some noise in the morning when they are leaving, but to be expected. Clean bathrooms and nicely maintained grounds.

May 22nd, 2020 Malaquite CG Dump Station

Dump and campground are still closed due to Covid-19. National Seashore beaches are open and no fees at this time.

May 19th, 2020 north padre free camping

Stayed here for four nights and it was awesome! No problems driving on the beach in our 2WD Sprinter and this spot was way less crowded than Port Aransas. I cannot believe the water is 80 degrees and it is free! No amenities aside from a dumpster by the entrance. Cell service very spotty. Do the Earth a favor and pick up some garbage while you are here.

May 18th, 2020 I-35 north rest area

Nothing special about this rest stop besides the free dump and garbage cans. There is a padlock that makes the dump look locked, but it's not. Would not recommend this rest stop for a quiet place to sleep as it is about 30 ft from the interstate.

May 17th, 2020 Walmart

Didn't want to chance it in Austin so we came here. Had an uneventful night with one other RV.

Stayed here again on 5/23 with no problems.

May 16th, 2020 Guadalupe County Rest Stop

Another quiet night at a Texas rest stop. We even saw lightening bugs!

May 15th, 2020 Rest Area I-10 Eastbound- Free Dump Station

Spent one night here during a crazy thunder and lightening storm. Close to the highway so noise is to be expected. They also have a free dump, potable water, and bathrooms.

May 14th, 2020 Watermill

Easy access water kiosk in large strip mall parking lot. Ice is $0.75 for 10 lbs and water is $0.25 per gallon.

May 14th, 2020 Marfa Mystery Lights Viewpoint

We didn't see any lights, but had a good nights sleep. Bathrooms and garbage cans are a plus!

May 13th, 2020 Baylor Canyon road

Nothing to write home about. Stayed the night with one other van. Close to the road so you can hear people going over the cattle guard early in the morning. Saw a rattlesnake on our walk. No amenities. Decent cell service on ATT.

May 12th, 2020 Dump Station - City Park

Free dump. Potable water available, but didn't taste great so we passed. There is a Glacier water kiosk on the side of Davis-Fleck United Pharmacy.
