May 31st, 2017 | Near the port and park | Pull off along the road by the port and Discovery park. gets quite busy with car traffic early in the morning but is free and doesn't seem to have any restrictions |
May 29th, 2017 | national forest right outside NP (correct gps:46.713085,-121.558278) | great free forest spot with several places to camp off the road. super quiet and just a few minutes from the entrance to Rainier National Park |
May 29th, 2017 | Cal Anderson Park | stayed here one night. quite noisy but free - just make sure you leave before 8am when the parking restrictions kick back in |
May 26th, 2017 | 300 Meters Off Oklahoma Road | good little spot to sleep. very quiet on amongst the trees. probably not a good idea if it's been raining |
May 25th, 2017 | park and ride | church parking and also park and ride for Portland although no buses actually stop here, you walk about 10 mins to catch the bus. very quiet lot with lots of space. you are allowed to use park and rides for 24 hours. would guess this doesn't include sleeping there though we had no issues. do not use this or other park and rides for more than 24 hours or I'm sure they'll add restrictions. |

May 22nd, 2017 | coastal lookout | we rated overnight in this parking spot just before the sign that says "fee use area". very peaceful and ne most amazing sunset I've ever seen! make sure you view the sunset from the fee use area - it's out of this world! pit toilet in the fee use area, and super good phone signal |
May 20th, 2017 | Craig Beach Parking & Picnic Area | nice quiet spot. just us, some tent campers and a weird abandoned car... good place for free as there's not much else around |
May 19th, 2017 | Yurok visitor centre | perfect spot! there's not much I'm yurok but there is a visitor centre. we parked around the back which just seems to be a pretty empty carpark with hardly any cars about. no signs or anything to say you can't park. there are toilets and water towards back of the visitor centre. toilets are locked at night but there are toilets at the petrol station across the road too. no signal but you can get pretty good WiFi ('yurok youth centre') by parking outside the second group of buildings as you face away from the visitor centre. you should see what I mean when you get here. |
May 17th, 2017 | Sonoma Coast Vista Point | great place with incredible view at sunrise. it is just a dirt pull off so no amenities but surprisingly quiet at night |
May 16th, 2017 | Public parking next to YMCA | we stayed two nights and were absolutely fine - nice quiet place BUT! on the second nice the police came into the carparks other their sirens on before 6am and kicked out a campervan and an RV. we weren't asked to move nor were we spoken to - not sure why, maybe because we live in a Ford Econoline and their more stealthy? |
May 14th, 2017 | Mission | we parked around here for one night, not the quietest but good place to rest. |
May 13th, 2017 | Pacific Coast Highway Closure | should add that this won't open any time soon and you can't get to Pfeiffer beach or myway falls from here. $5,000 fine if you try and go down to the beach on foot. |
May 13th, 2017 | Salinas River State Beach "Potrero Lot" Road | great little pull out on both sides of the road on the far side of the river from the beach. slept here two nights without disturbance. pretty quiet area too as the park closes at sunset. |
May 8th, 2017 | Mono Lake | great place to spend the night. was our ford van and one other RV. so peaceful and beautiful views! |
May 8th, 2017 | Stanilaus Boondock | definitely need a 4x4 or high clearance to get further off the road or not be scared of getting a puncture. quiet area |
May 7th, 2017 | Emigrant, Death Valley National Park | slept here one night in our ford e150 van. there is a sign saying tents only but most people there seemed to be sleeping in their cars. has running water and flush toilets officially only 10 slaves but can fit two cars in one space if need be. great free spot! |
May 6th, 2017 | Walmart | Walmart car park just north of the strip.plenty of RVs parked in here and surprisingly quiet overnight. Walmarts nearer to the strip won't let you stay overnight so this is your best bet |
May 4th, 2017 | Coyote Pass Trailhead | great place to sleep far enough off the highway to be peaceful. also has a lot toilet. seems to be one guy living there permanently. only issue is you have to go out of kingman town west and then do a U-turn at some point to access it from the easy. |
May 2nd, 2017 | Parking shoe horse (glen canyon) | quiet night sleep with good stars. people start arriving here at 5.30am for pictures though so you probably be woken up around then |
April 30th, 2017 | Sheep Bridge Road | loads of spaces on BLM land. does get pretty busy from 6/7pm onwards although I'm sure you'd find a space somewhere. |
April 29th, 2017 | Shower Moab + Laundry | super hot showers for just $3 still the cheapest place in Moab and they were super clean. you just need a quarter to get them started which you get when you exchange the $3 with the owners |
April 24th, 2017 | Sam's Club | good quiet night sleep. a few RVs parked in the walmart but much quieter if you head over to Sam's club and park along the side. |
April 22nd, 2017 | Alamogordo Walmart | fine to park overnight if park down the left hand side lots of RVs there |
