Had a hard paddle in early this morning after being stranded for a couple days on Isla del Carmen. After we lifted our kayak into the Marina, thirsty and hungry, a security guard biked up to us almost immediately telling us to move our kayak, calling us a taxi, and telling us where to wait. It would have seemed nice if he seemed to care. There was an air about him that suggested he really, really didn’t want us here. The lady in the store was nice, but security is anything but sympathetic.

As described. Free, near the airport. Had to enter from the highway nearly due west of the point (after the dirt mounds and bridge if you’re heading south out of Loreto). Convenient for us to kayak from.

When you pull onto chimney creek rd, you’ll see a few pull offs with signage that each fit a single vehicle. We kept driving, found a road off to the right that immediately forked with a fence and gate to the left, and more open space to the right. We went to the right and pulled our van around the little loop. No one joined us for the 20 hours we were there, but there were a few vehicles who drove by at a distance. We passed by and spoke to a BLM employee who told us to enjoy our stay, which was encouraging and reassuring. The spot was fantastic! Beautiful views, air, vegetation, and silent isolation. Based on previous we expected coyotes, but we didn’t see or hear any. It definitely got windy at night, so tents might not be ideal. Highly recommend!

Beautiful campsite right at the water. It is well maintained, very clean and you can use the pool as well. There is only space for two, max. three cars with a rooftoptent or campervans.
The sunset is beautiful and the view on the river stunning. There is always something to see like pelicans, fishermen and if you are lucky a crocodile.
The place is very safe. A little shop us close by. Best thing is writing Mike in advance to check if there is enough space.

Moto camping spot only as you need to pass between and under trees! Off the road a little ways close to the Santa Rita hot springs we found this quiet little spot with abandoned bee hives (2 still had residents the rest were empty).
We stayed here 1 night when going to the springs, cows pass nearby and you can hear there bells but otherwise it’s a quiet place out of sight from the road.

This place could also be suitable for small 4x4 (low tops) if you can handle a few scratches from trees. There is space to turn around for a short wheel base car (jeep wrangler size)
Only a minute away from the springs.
Springs are closed on Wednesdays and running at Max 24 people capacity during Covid. Entrance was 150 pesos per person at time of writing this.
Beautiful spot, baños and a picnic area nice cold water swimming hole and the hot spring pool is awesome! Worth the visit in my opinion.

So beautiful! Started to set everything up to stay here with our 4x4 with rooftop tent. Our 2 Toddlers loved it up until we got attacted by sand fleas. Lots of them! They were biting all of us so badly that we dicided to pack everything back up. Added some pictures. If you have enough buck rebellend and don‘t mind them then definitely stay here for a night!

Most expensive place for us. 12000 colones for one night. As soon as we arrived and started to set everything up the mosquitoes where eating us alive. Our 2 toddler looked pretty bad and we had lots of bites aswell. So only took a quick shower which was nice and clean before quickly hiding in our rooftop tent. In the morning it was still so bad we could not eat breakfast and left immediately. So for ONLY sleeping there it was expensive. Oh well.

We stayed at the Arube Lodge campsite for 5 nights. The campsite looked a bit neglected. Still stands out from most of the camps in the area. Still KES 900 ppn. The site is separated from the access to the neighboring lodges and camps by a (narrow) hedge. At night it is quiet with the exception of the howling of hyenas, etc ... Unfortunately there is only 1 place directly on the river. Cold beer with KES 470 very expensive.

Lovely small restaurant situated in an old fisherman's cottage. Fresh fish of course but also small plates (tapas style) with fish, meat and veggie options. My ice tea was also made fresh on order. Busy with locals even on a Tuesday night. Really recommend!

Lovely spot. You can hear a bit of the highway but it’s not bad. We arrived late and Hoyt informed us in the morning that you cannot park overnight in the riverside pull throughs closer to the bridge. If you arrive late, park in the parking lot or sites further into the park on the highway side.

Such a welcoming sight to pull in at 11pm and be greeted by like 15 other RV’s and vans already parked for the night in the back of the light. Good ol’ Walmart. Lowe’s is the next lot over and also has rigs parked tonight, appears to be quieter too.

Arrived very last minute and Cecil was extremely accommodating, turning the water on and setting up the electricity as we were the only ones there. Nice hot shower. We paid 180 for 2 people and RTT. High clearance vehicle only needed for last 20m

Staying here for a month @ $708/ Mo. We love this place! Heated pool and hot tub are open. We can tell they really care about this place. It is kept immaculate. The sites are tight, but somehow the landscaping minimizes the effect. All services are incorporated either in the main building or in a very close compound: Office, store, recreation room on one floor. Six beautiful, private shower suites, the fitness center, and laundry on the lower level. Outside the office level is the pool and spa on one side and a BBQ patio with three grills and patio seating on a balcony overlooking a ravine and mountainside. There are three spacious lanes for new check-ins and a pull through propane service lane. All of the inside spaces have mask and occupancy limits for Covid.

there are no signs to indicate any sort of parking restrictions on Poli Street. We stayed here last night and had lovely views over the city and woke up this morning able to see the ocean. There is certainly road noise but nothing that prevented us from sleeping properly. We were able to walk the dog easily and had great phone service.
