Beautiful overlook spot for viewing Prince William Sound at the end of the road. Porta potties, bear-proof trash cans, one picnic table and a grill. No "no parking overnight" signs. Location for Shotgun Cove Trailhead.

Day use only now. This trailhead and the very large gravel lot just before it now have signs that forbid parking from midnight until 6 AM.

Amazing views road was ok for our 35 ft super C— just go slow. Several day use cars in the lot at 6pm. But we found a spot for overnight

Gravel lot at Emerald Cove Trail.
The road to get here is not maintained. But after we arrived, 2 other vans and an All Terrane Vehicle showed up to also camp. It is rainy and foggy but a wonderful view of the Bay, and the mountains.
Follow previous directions and keep going till you get to the top!

stayed here for 3 nights so I could hike all the need by trails. We have a large truck camper and others stayed here as well. Great views and peaceful.

Looks like there are two places to park here. At the very end of the road is the parking area for hikes and view point. This has about 14 spots, parallel parking.

Just before (north) is a large gravel area which looks soft (rainy today) but one VW was in there, probably good for another 6-10 spots.

Nice spot, and road was in great shape.

Coordinates are actually N 60°78’73.93”, W148° 62’46.93 at the end of Shotgun Road. Nice location looking over the Passage Canal, Alaska Marine Highway route into Whittier. Really nice a lot with views, picnic tables and barbecues. Hiking trail at the end of the flat lot.

Parqueo del sendero perfecto para pasar la noche. No hay ninguna restricción. Hay una mesa de picnic y parrilla para asar. 3 barras de celular sin booster ~15/3mbps. Justo frente al lago y la vista del glaciar.

Great trail parking to spend the night. There is no restriction. There is a picnic table and grill for BBQ. 3 cellular bars without booster 15/3mbps. Right in front of the lake and the glacier view.

Amazing view, can accommodate any vehicle that can fit in a standard parking space. No facilities, no 'no overnight' sign. Spoke with another camper that stayed the night before. 3 bar ATT LTE, 2 bar TMO 3g.

Beautiful place, no issues, would stay again ( honestly I don't want to leave ). Trash cans, no toliets. please keep clean so they don't close this off to us.

Good spot. Good Verizon service with LTE. Great views. Will quickly get busy during the day with day activities but only about 5 campers overnight

Thanks to Overlander users for this gem! We stayed here one night in August 2021, and a few other cars parked there as well to camp, but it was quiet and clean. Epic views of the lake and glacier! It did get a bit windy at night up there so we were glad to be sleeping in a vehicle.

Fam. If you time this with good visibility. It’s pretty epic. Brought our 25ft ghetto earthromer style rig out here. Road is super good rn. Was blocked from rockfall when we were last here in 2018. Right now I’m looking at a beautiful fjord, glaciers, and heard a moose or something yelling. TOP imho

Really cool spot, didn’t get bothered. One other van here. It should be noted that there is a $13 toll to use the tunnel to get into Whittier though

Nice spot with a view of the bay. Has seats and picnic tables near the edge. Looks like a day use are that does not have any “ no overnight camping” signs yet.
There are bear proof trash cans but no toilets or amenities.
I have 1-2 bars LTE on AT&T. Enough to watch video on my cell.
Can be very windy but the view is great, or could be, if it wasn’t foggy.
A lot of people come through during the day to see the view but very quiet after 5 or 6.

Follow Shotgun Cove Trail from town to the far edge of Whittier. At the end of this road is a gravel lot with lots of parking spaces. There is no sign saying you cannot camp (the town is littered with these signs) and I believe this land is owned by the state of Alaska which allows camping.

We stayed here in a Sprinter overnight and no one bothered us.

No Verizon signal.
