Description

Got pulled over right after paying the toll.
According to the officer it is illegal to drive in Peru with a Chilean driver’s licence. Despite mentioning both countries recognize each other’s licences. Said it needed to be accompanied by International driver’s licence. After several minutes of discussion he tried to charge me with tainted windows.
Had to threaten to call the embassy.
Be prepared for these sort of harassments as they will try to pull a ticket on you by any means. If possible try to understand the treaties that rule your current licence in order to not give them a chance. Don’t be hesitant to film them either.

Got pulled over by a cop. He wanted to see all the papers, we only gave him copies and told him we never use the originals on the road, because it‘s too dangerous. After he said one of our additional front-lights is not allowed in Peru. I started filming him and the discussion with my phone and immediately he let us go.

Report Check-In

we drove this rout to Lima and didn't have a single problem. There was 1 cop just hanging around before the barrier and 1 after, neither showed the slightest interest. There were also cops at the 2 other tollbooths on our route and they didn't bother us either. There also wasn't anyone trying to scam us (tires,) Traffic was pretty normal and the driving in Lima wasn't any worse than in other big cities in Latin America.

Report Check-In

Yesterday they stopped us and ask about the dark windows, We showed all the documents and they let us go. If you have problems you can film and ask for their names, so they will let you go.

Report Check-In

There were several cops around the toll booth (before and after it) but we did not get pulled over anywhere in this area.

Report Check-In

We were stopped about 3km south of the toll. First for our propane tank on the back and then it was for window tint. We started filming them and asked for their names. They looked through the documents and wanted originals. We said no. They let us go eventually.

Somewhere vaguely round here (within about 30miles going north on the PA) i was told i was speeding and needed to pay a fine, but could have a 90% reduction if i paid then and there. I went to Facebook and started a live feed and when the officer saw it turned out i could leave immediately.
