Best campsite outside NE entrance of Yellowstone! Currently in late September everything is off season so very quiet, self-pay, water is turned off. There are pit toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables. Both sunny and shady spots. We saw deer and a fox while we were here and enjoyed visiting Cooke City, MT.
Report Check-InThis was the first campground we found after getting out of Yellowstone. The campground was spacious and beautiful, though we were only there one night. We were in the off-season so the camp host wasn't there but there were trash receptacles (yay!). Beautiful area - they do require hard-sided campers though.
Report Check-InUSFS, $20. FCFS Dry camping, right off highway. Good road in. Host on site. Pit toilets, trash, potable water, large sites, mostly well spaced. Usual site amenities, and lots of shade if needed. Zero cell service!! Close to Cooke City for supplies, restaurants, gas, etc. WiFi available at Visitor Center, and a few establishments, otherwise there’s no cell signal in town. Hard sided units only, no tents or pop-ups due to Grizz activity. Nice camp, quiet at night and scenic. River close by.
Report Check-InAs described. No cell on this side of park so if you're going for some of the free sites, be sure to download your map in advance. It was dark so this was an inexpensive compromise.
Update - site where a bear killed a camper in 2010. Heard a Tooth and Claw podcast episode and suddenly all the signs prohibiting tents and soft sided campers made sense!

Clean and quiet campground. No tents or soft-sized vehicles allowed due to active bear presence. $20 per vehicle or $10 if 62 and older.
Report Check-InJust an other campground close to be historical town Cook city. $20/$10 with senior pass. I did not see a mention that the water was not potable. Filled up our tank and did not get sick.
Report Check-InCampground 10 minutes from the NE Yellowstone entrance. Hosts on site, $20 a night with pit toilets, non-potable water, bear proof food storage and trash cans. The hosts were lovely and came by to warn us of a grizzly just up the road which is common for the area as neither campground with allow tents. They also cut down some trees earlier in the day and were happy for us to us on our campfire. I had to run into town to buy bug spray though the mosquitos are like small birds here. No cell service at all with T Mobile
Report Check-Inclosed at this moment, don't know when it is open again.
Report Check-InCampground is about 6 miles out of Yellowstone. Paid $4.50 with Lifetime Senior Pass. Hard sided camping only, no tents due to active Grizzly population. Pit toilets and potable water.
Report Check-Instill $9dollars, next year they want to ask $20 per site!
