nice place to stay and nice hostess, easy contact via whatsapp!
actual price is 680 met pppn.

yes it's a "privat" campsite with own ablution, but it's campsite by campsite by campsite so you can watch your neighbours and they can watch you (:

Report Check-In

A warm welcome. We are the only guests at campsite. Own ablotion and electricity. Basic standard, 120 Rand or 450 MT pPpN

Report Check-In

no sea view but 6 campsites with private ablutions totally new. garbage bins, light, electricity, sink, flushing toilet (but no toilet paper), hot shower (very hot but low pressure :-(), small hut, shadow with trees or palm trees (be careful the coconuts).
lovely dogs, lovely owner.
beautiful sunset on the mangrove at walking distance and amazing beach at 5 minutes walking. safe to swim, safe to walk and we were alone.
big pool, bar, restaurant only in December, so take everything with you ! playground for kids.
some palm flies.
out of season 400 MT pppn o 120 rands.
20 chalets to rent too: 500 rands per night for 2.
take care, it is fully booked in Eastern and December when the south african tourists arrive!
cash only.
wifi at the restaurant if the owner share with you her connection ;-)

Report Check-In

Warm welcome at this campsite at the tip of the peninsula. Great walks along sandy beach. Seems like resort is under renovation, ablutions a little tired, no light or toilet paper and very low water pressure in shower.

Report Check-In

We checked out a couple of campsites in Barra and this was best value for money. Your own private hut including kitchen block (sink only), private shower and toilet. Only downside is the palm flies during this time a year. Paid 500met pppn and really enjoyed our stay. Be aware that with high tide a 4x4 is required to get to campsite.

Report Check-In

Very nice spot on walking distance from the beach. Private ablutions with warm water, however water pressure was low so taking a shower takes forever. You have your own hut for shade and there is a braai as well. Everything is on sand. Paid R120 / Met 430 per night.

Notes:
- There are a lot of palm flies here.

- The road to get here will be under water during high tide. If you have 4x4 (which is recommended for this campsite) you can still cross.

Report Check-In

Campsite pretty much as described and still open (as we are camping here right now with another couple). Enjoying ourselves, price still 420 metical per adult camping. Private ablusions included with power, hot shower and braai. Our 10t 3.5m high and 2.5m wide big rig crossed the bridges, so they will hold. 😂

wonderful place of rest with a wonderful and very helpful hostess. We stayed here for a week and loved every minute. highly recommended.

Report Check-In

Good Day, This place is not closed. Campsites were destroyed in a fire 2020, but they have been rebuild and is open for business...

Barra Dica is on the Inhambane Bay side, sheltered from the wind behind the sand dune. The beach on the Indian Ocean is about 200m away on foot. It is very quiet here out of season (Christmas, Easter). Barra Dica is camper truck friendly and plans a site or two specifically for expedition vehicles. The driveway to Praia da Barra is paved. From there about 5 km of well-pressed sandy track. In this area there are some low-hanging lines, which you can avoid. With a height of 3.8m we just got through. About 700m before Barra Dica you cross two narrow bridges. Capacity unknown. With a width of 2.4m we could drive through the bridge. You can also continue over sand and through the water, which we didn't do. The last 500m before Barra Dica you drive along the beach, which is under water at high tide. Access and exit possible up to 2 hours before high tide and from 2 hours after high tide. Water and electricity available. We stayed here for 6 nights.

Report Check-In

Such a nice place to stay.
We can't enfasize that enough.
The hosts, Harliaan and Dries, are amazing persons, super nice and very helpful.
Beware of the tide when you want to get to this place. We arrived on high tide and the road was completely underwater, so we couldn't pass, but... We drive a 4wd Toyota Hiace.
With just a phone call, Harliaan picked us up, no problem, and 1h later we came for the cars.
The place is so good, so quiet.
They had a fire a few months a go and are still rebuilding the place, but you get access to all the commodities.
Camping spots: 120 rand (480 meticais)/pppn
The chalets: 150 (600 meticais)/ pppn

Wi-Fi is not straight away connected, but they will connect it if you need it.

There's also a swimming pool for little one, but the big one is not ready yet.
There's also a child playground.
Abluption facilities are OK.
Really nice and hot water for shower.

You can wash you clothes there for 60 meticais per kg.

Really, really nice place. 😁

The campsite ablutions are still work in progress, but this place offers fantastic value for money on chalets during the low season. We had a self catering chalet with 2 bedrooms, a living area and kitchen and a spacious veranda all for R600. The chalets face onto the lagoon, but the beach is only ~100m away and is beautiful. We enjoyed walking along the beach to Neptune’s for dinner. The owner is very friendly and helpful.

Report Check-In

That's now called "Barra Dica". Very nice owner explained about the private ablutions for campers not being ready... they are getting there though! 😅 Price is 120 Rand ppn for camping and 150 Rand pppn for a chalet.

Report Check-In

Owners estimated Campsite to be up and running by December 2022 - WiFi only during peak season (December)

Report Check-In

After the fire the campsite is still not ready but what we can see is that it will be very nice and ready soon :) every campsite gets its own ablutions and shade under the roof. There is a big pool and access to the beach. As the campsite is not ready yet, we stayed in one of their huts for 150R pppn with a wonderful sunset view :).
Camping price is 120R pppn.

For us this place felt like paradise! We would definitely come again!

Report Check-In

Covid time is affecting many campsites in Mozambique. The Areia Branca is no exception. The camp is not ready for visitors, had a fire in the campsite to make matters worse - hard times. It is closed at the moment, give the owners and the camp a chance in a few months.

Report Check-In

The campsite is still to be rebuilt and pool motor out of order as burnt in the fire. We still really enjoyed this place. We were the only ones. Great swimming beach although a bit far. Lagoon on the other side. Took a tour to the village on the island and then some snorkeling. There are lots of hawkers but they are very friendly, just trying to make a living! Staff here were great.

Report Check-In

We had a very warm welcome by the owners. There was a fire last week on the campsite and therefore shutdown at the moment.
They are welcoming overlanders to stay in the bungalows for a campingrate (480mzt pp + 5% if you want to pay by card, for the two of us 998 MZT)
We stayed in the bungalow with a own bathroom and kitchen, they only ask to use your own gas and bedsheets.

They are rebuilding the campsite at the moment and the owner told us that they are building new campsites with your own absolution and a roof where you can pitch the RTT so you can camp in the shade.

Report Check-In

Nice owners, nice campsite, a bit of a walk to the beach. We had a hot shower in our private ablutions that did not work very well. We were one of only two campers there, and we got a bit sick of the sellers coming around every hour to sell souvenirs, and complaining because we didn't buy anything. 500mets pppn

Report Check-In

In the offseason we were alone here. Very quiet. Friendly owners. Private Bathroom. Sandy places.

Report Check-In

Nice campsite on sand with private bathroom and shade. Small swimming pool to cool off in.

Report Check-In

Camping with private bathroom 150 rand, with shared 120 rand in off-season. No real wifi, the owner can provide hotspot. Part of the last 1,5 km can be under water during tide so it is better to arrive before 5 or ask around before arrival.

Report Check-In

As described.
"Best in Mozambique". Not sure would agree but certainly very good place, deep and soft sand for camping on and not particularly private, would not like to be here if very busy.
New owners have just taken over as of Dec 2016.
Pool is great for cooling off but not really a swimming pool.
It's certainly a great place for us for a few days.

Report Check-In

For us the best place in Mozambique. White sands, shelter, Wi-Fi, good ablution, almost private beach and malaria free.
